We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenesha Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenesha, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Being a perfectionist. When I have a vision I love to execute it. I always go above and beyond. I love to make sure my work is very neat and sleek and not one hair out of place.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Ken the hairstylist is fun, bold, fearless. What sets me apart from others would be my eye for detail. I love for all of my styles to be very sleek not one hair out of place.
My journey have not been a easy one, I have doubted myself several times and pushed my career back just from being scared and nervous for the future. But not anymore, I use to take clients in the morning from 8am-1pm then go to a full time job from 3-10. I have lost everything before but never let that defeat me I kept going.
Lessons I have learned along the way is to don’t overthink your dream just go for it. When you have a talent you have to show the world.
I am most proud of myself. I have stepped out of my comfort zone and have now been a full time hairstylist for 2 years with a successful clientele. Everyday more and more opportunities come my way and if they don’t I’m going to go grab them.
I want the world to know that Ken the hairstylist is not a name to be forgotten.
I am a hairstylist that want all of my clients to look and feel beautiful. To have great experiences and long lasting hairstyles. I’m that hairstylist that gets excited to do new things and can master every new thing that’s put in front of me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Favorite spots in Houston would have to be steak 48, secret garden for drinks and a nice vibe. Centennial garden for a nice walk and breather. (A mind escape)

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My fiancé Jeremy Guillory. I met him when I was 17 and he have always pushed and helped me chase my dreams.
Down to promoting me on Instagram to being there financially through cosmo school. He has been my number one supporter and have always kept me grounded and believing in myself.
