Kevin , always such a pleasure connecting with you and thank you for sharing your stories, insights and inspiring messages with our community. We’re looking forward to getting the download and what you have been up to since our last interview, but first can you briefly introduce yourself to folks who might have missed the prior conversation.
My name is Kevin Sechelski and im Co-Owner of Echo Custom Homes and Texas Strong Roofers. As a life long artist my goal has been to try and make a visual impact on my surroundings. In visual art I’ve done this via sculpture, mix media, painting and even co-hosting an art show called NEOPOPSTREETFUNK, where we bring artists in from around the world to showcase their talents.

Echo Custom Homes has allowed to me to take my design and art skills into a diffrent realm of creativity. Here at Echo we get to design modern custom homes from scratch based off our clients wants and needs. Our goal is to always be forward thinking while maintaining a timeless sophistication. We have been fortunate to win over 20 design related awards including being recognized for Custom Builder of the Year multiple times.

Echo Custom Homes is a small design/build firm that prides itself on communication and hard work. We understand that building a custom home will not be the most amazing experience as it can be very stressful, but we are here to guide you through and help get you to your dream home.

Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
The past few years have been a little challenging for all players in the Real Estate Industry… Builders, Loan Officers, Realtors, Title Companies, Inspectors, Trades, Suppliers… We have all seen a slow down due to Covid, Inflation and High Mortgage Rates…. During this time we decided to start a sister company called Texas Strong Roofers, At TSR we specialize in both residential and commercial roof replacements and can provide Shingles, Metal and TPO. Texas Strong Roofers also handles small construction project too that normally would not fall under the Echo Custom Homes umbrella. (Example: Painting, Exterior Repairs, Gutters, Windows, Sheetrock, Trim, Bathroom and Kitchen Renovations.)

Part of my job here at Echo Custom Homes is to do market analyzation and Im seeing some light at the end of the tunnel for 2025. We feel the market will start to take a turn for the better and housing industry will open back up. People who were holding out for the past three years for super low mortgage rates are now understanding that ship has sailed and its time to make adjustments to get into a new home or do that renovation. We think rates will start trending in the right direction this year and give our industry the spark it needs.

Life is often about tough choices – can you talk to us about your thought process, strategy or philosophy when it comes to making difficult choices or tradeoffs.
Ive been in business for myself since I was 23 years old… I’ve be involved in many things from a Vintage Clothing Store, Mortgage Company, Real Estate Company, Real Estate Photography Company, Art Shows, Internet companies, Custom Home and Roofing Company… and im sure there will be more in the future lol…

What I’ve learned is we cant ever give up… Mistakes and failures are just part of the world and business. The goal is to try and not make a mistake that can effect you forever. Being a business owner is hard work and its not for everyone. Many sleepless nights and missed social opportunities. If you decide to venture down that path for yourself I would say don’t be afraid to ask for help understand that a small business is like riding a roller coaster… lots of ups, downs, high speed turns and slow downs… But in the end its yours and you get to be your own boss!
