We had the good fortune of connecting with Kourtney Perry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kourtney, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to provide a resource for couples planning weddings in Texas. I felt that there was not a place on the internet that catered to the Texas bride/couple and I wanted to provide a resource for those couples. This resource would be a go-to source for all of their wedding needs–a “one-stop-shop” resource so that they would not have to search all over the internet to find planning resources for their wedding.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
After practicing law for six years, I knew I wanted to take my career in a different direction. I never thought about being an entrepreneur but after my 2010 wedding, an idea for a wedding website came into my head that I knew I had to act on.
It has not been an easy journey and I have definitely learned a ton along the way. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is adaptability. The online world is constantly changing at a very fast pace and you have to adjust quickly to the new world order if you want to succeed in the space.
I love that my brand has stayed consistent in its quality and representation despite a constantly changing landscape. I m most proud that I have set out and developed the website that I envisioned in my mind over 10 years ago.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Restaurants: Breakfast Club
Sites:
Hermann Park
NASA
Galleria (for the people watching)
Events:
Rodeo Houston
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband–he’s been extremely supportive of me in my entrepreneurial endeavors. He’s supported me even when my business was not successful and constantly provided me with advice and encouragement. He’s the real MVP!
