We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristin B. Gyimah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristin B., how did you come up with the idea for your business?
To be honest, it was God-led. I genuinely enjoy serving people and helping them see beyond their self-imposed/accepted limitations; bringing structure to thoughts; providing practical solutions and actionable strategies to maximize each day; and, developing a game plan to support and further a vision. These are all second-nature to me, at this point. And I know it’s a way that I can serve and add value to those who ultimately need some level of clarity, structure and/or accountability.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m what most would term today as a multi-hyphenate; I do a lot of different things. I used to think that having a diverse skillset was a liability (vs. just having that “one thing”). However, fortunately, I was freed from that mindset and now truly understand that the ability to leverage varying experiences and insights is definitely an asset. Going from practicing law in a mid-size firm to where I am today has seen many different yet valuable experiences. Each touchpoint along the way has lessons learned that impact how I operate today. My professional background ranges from overseeing and managing high-level operations, strategic planning, partnership negotiations and management, professional development, event production and experiential marketing integration, and more. On the more “creative side”, I am a writer; I write songs and recently wrote a children’s book (Teddy Gets Glasses).

I think, oftentimes, we believe we have to be limited to a straight and narrow one-track path. However, what I’ve grown to learn and love — and hope to help others understand is — you can do many things. Also that different seasons may call for different things, and that’s okay. That each experience you have contributes to the next, in some way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are SO many great things to do in Houston. It honestly depends on what’s happening during the time of her visit. However, whenever it is, we are definitely grabbing something to eat! Whether it’s ChopnBlok, Mo’ Better Brews, The Breakfast Klub, JuiceWell, Killen’s BBQ and/or North Italia, we will be getting food from several of these places throughout the week. One of those days, we’d likely reserve for a trip over to The Galleria. Also, depending on the time of year, perhaps we’d be able to pick up tickets to a professional sports game (i.e., Rockets, Astros, Texans). I definitely love a good spa day, too, so we would find time for that as well. Lastly, we are fortunate to have a great group of friends here in Houston. So, we’d likely spend some time laughing and hanging out somewhere with them as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my husband, Kofi. He has been and continues to be my #1 supporter, in may ways. Without his love, prayers, encouragement and support, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do.
