We had the good fortune of connecting with LaDavid Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaDavid, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I felt like it was something impossible. I never thought that something I did for fun, would turn into a career. I just knew I was tired of giving my best to companies and organizations that didn’t fully appreciate my dedication and work ethic. So I knew it was time to take a chance on myself.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I feel my artistic view on photography was birthed from my initial love for drawing and painting at a young age. I fell in love with creating things from just a thought and a vision, and seeing it come to life. Over time that transformed into me taking a deep interest in the old retro Kodak cameras and rushing to the store to get them developed to see what I had captured. It’s always been about capturing moments.
I got into YouTube and content creation when I got a bit older, which I feel really pushed me into learning how to take better photos for thumbnails, editing, and story telling. Eventually I wanted to tell stories and capture photos of others. During the Pandemic, while I was stationed in San Antonio, a best friend and I would just go and take photos for fun, vlog and just have fun with it. She was the first one to tell me that I had a talent, and she believed I could make a living out of photography and videography. She, legit was the first to plant the seed and believe in me.
Fast forward to today, there were a lot set back along the journey to where I am now. Including losing my car, my home, and even friends, but it taught me resilience, and that if you really want something, you’ll go after it with all of your heart and soul.
My journey as a creative has taught me patience, and to appreciate every step of the process. I never stopped learning and finding opportunities to grow, network, and mold my craft. I want people to know the power of God behind my success. By the things ive been through, I shouldn’t be here, but I am.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a serious homebody so getting me out of the house is always a huge task, haha. But when by best friend comes we always have to hit up the mall first, because we can’t be out here not looking our best. Then we always have to get some good food, I really enjoy this burger place called Hopdoddy in the woodlands, but Houston is known for its many eateries so we just go with the flow and get whatever.
I don’t go out often at all, but I do enjoy finding a nice lounge or coffee shop to chill and pass time. Probably hit the movies, The Regal Theatre is insanely huge so I like going there from time to time. But other than that, we have the same vibe, so our week would be full of coffee trips, food, shopping and chill vibe spots.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe all glory to God and my faith in him. I had family and friends who believed in me, and many that doubted me when times got hard. Regardless, I am grateful for everyone in my corner and for the motivation from those who never thought they’d see me this far.
