We had the good fortune of connecting with Lakeisha Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lakeisha, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor behind my success would be authenticity. I am a food influencer and I give feedback on my experiences. I will always keep it real with anything that I do. People appreciate honesty and I can’t be anything other than that. Honesty is the best policy and sometimes it may seem harsh but it helps to correct mistakes. As a content creator and food influencer, some restaurants love the feedback and take it into consideration.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Besides being a food influencer, I’ve been a retail manager over 20years. Over the years, I have built bonds with coworkers that turned to family. We have stayed close and have endured a lot together. Some of the kids that I’ve worked with were in high school and now they are grown, have bought houses, have kids, and professional careers. Some always come back and tell me thank you for always pushing me to be great! This is what I do! I want everyone to go out into this world and be great. This is why I decided to study Psychology and get in the Social work field. I am currently in college at University of Houston-Downtown to better myself so I can continue to help others. Is it easy working full-time and college full-time? No, but it is worth it in my eyes! I keep the faith and keep pushing forward.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a best friend from out of town come visit, they already know we are eating good. We would definitely hit up some of the speakeasy’s around the city. The Sugar Room is a great chill spot that I really enjoy. We would brunch at my all time favorite Jonathan’s the Rub on Memorial. They have the best brunch cocktails! For dinner, go to Casa do Brasil, Vic and Anthony’s, Eddie vs, and Taste of Texas! For lunch spots, Dona Letis, Del Friscos, Burger-Chan, Marmo, and Rouxpour for oysters! We definitely would go to the museums, bowling, and to the movies!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for my best friend Mishon Jones in heaven. She pushed me everyday to start talking about my experiences and I did just that. This is all dedicated in her honor. Thanks to Jasmeen Ervin for collaborating with me when I took a break and came back in full force. I also would like to shoutout Andrea (HoustonGirlEats), Tiana (Wherewefinnaeatt), Foodie_Herb, Justin (Moelifendrinks), Shayla (libationsnlattes) Camy (HeyHouston_), and Monica (theblackwineo) to name just a few. There are so many to name that if I could go on and on…I WOULD. I love them all collectively for giving insight in the influencer world.
