We had the good fortune of connecting with Gwendolyn Woody, LPN and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gwendolyn, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
I actually have a favorite scripture, Jeremiah 29:11. It states, “For I know the plans that I have to prosper you, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This means that my God will bless me where I am with what I have. I like this scripture because it assures me that I have what I need inside of me to create greatness.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I assist people in understanding their diagnosis of diabetes, living better, and creating their healthy; after all, we are not textbooks, we are human. Currently, I am contracted to assist a hospital in Alaska with diabetes education and case management. What sets me apart from all others, is my journey and my purpose. I know what it is like to have family members succumb to preventable illness. As a nurse, I understand that patients don’t know, they only go by what the doctor states or what they lookup online. People don’t have to eat what Uncle Johnie or Aunt Susie died of at the repass, they can change the menu and create their healthy. My challenge was not believing in myself even though, I know what to do to assist patients in succeding, but did not feel that anyone wanted to hear my voice, that was a lie. What I know and teach can change someone’s life. It’s not easy, but I push and I push hard! I am The Nutritionist and Nurse, I assist people and companies to create health and wellness that fits their needs and demonstrates pure return. My brand teaches health education and promotes health equality.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be honest, if it was not a pandemic I would most definitely visit the downtown area, Minute Maid Park, and The Rodeo. I would also attend the museums. We would eat at just about any mom and pop place that is authentic, other than that we would be at the pool.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to say my sons, Bobby and Brandon are my encouragement and my reasons why I push myself to accomplish all of my goals. My sister-friends, Danielle and Takesha are my support system with conversations that feed and nourish, while my coach Bianca of Cayden Cay Consulting gives me that healthy cocky push, and the listening ear of my Co-Pastor along with her prayers, Mia K. Wright deserves recognition and so much more. most definitely more.
