We had the good fortune of connecting with Lakiesha Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lakiesha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Having my own business was always a life goal of mine, never to work for anyone else for the rest of my life. However, how, when and where to get started took me sometime to get there. It took for my husband and I to go through a really rough time In our marriage for me to get to a place to say I’m ready to get started now. No more time to put it off, so I presented my plans and goals to my baby sister and my mother and August 2014 La’Shaes was born.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
“It’s Always A Great Day to Support A Sister” is our motto. We believe where there is unity there is strength, and starting, growing as well as maintaining a business is not as easy as some may think or as easy as some may make it look. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication and consistency. So if we would come together and help one another more and  be understanding of those who may just be getting started knowing that we all have something that could help the next we would see businesses grow faster and better I believe.  I will always make it apart of my journey to do just that “Support A Sister”.

I have become weary, cried and almost quit several times on this journey. I thank God that I have people I am connected to who are there to let me lean on them for encouragement, which I believe is also very important in business, you need people around you who will not allow you to give up, those that will remind you that it’s not just about you but the person who needs the vision God has given you to help them move forward in the vision God has given them.

One of the things I have learned is to make a believer out of people, you must be consistent or they don’t want to be bothered. If you’ve ever heard the saying “I have to see it to believe it “  I found to be true in the pursuit of business and entrepreneurship. If your audience doesn’t see a thriving consistency they don’t believe you, and that’s where the push comes, you have to do it on the days you just don’t want to not just on the days when you’re up in a good mood and ready. Some days you have to dig deep and find your why, to remember why are you doing what you do. What is the passion that will drive you to keep going. I do it for my family hoping that I am an inspiration to them to pursue all of their dreams and goals and don’t give up even when it gets tough and all the women and young girls around the world. When I started my hearts desire and still is today to let every woman and young girl around the world to know “ There Is No One Better Than You”! That they deserve every good thing life has to offer and they don’t have to settle for anything less than Gods very best. That if they have a dream or a goal they can see it through they just have to put in the work each and every day. Most importantly seek God in all things and he will direct their path.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would have to say it would depend on the time of year they came to visit. If it were during the summer time Houston have several beautiful beaches such as South Padres, water parks Like Schlitterbahn and good eateries. During the spring time they could come and visit the Rodeo that has a host of food, music and a host of family activities.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First I would like to give all Praise and Honor to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who all good and perfect gifts come from, who gives me the strength and innovation to keep going. To my husband who has worked so hard in taking care of our family as I pursue my dream of entrepreneurship and business. To my mom and baby sister who has been on this journey every step of the way. All the ladies of Team La’Shaes past and present who have put in time and energy in being apart of making La’Shaes what it is today. To every supporter who has sowed into the growth and expansion of La’Shaes we love and appreciate each and everyone of you.
