We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As a health care provider, I really wanted the freedom to treat my patients as they should be treated and not by corporate regulations. I want my patients to trust that I have their best interest in mind. That can be difficult to maintain in other environments. Starting my own practice, I’m able to control every aspect of patient care. As a mother, starting my own business offers me the freedom to watch my children grow. I love being able to control my schedule to be available for the important events in my kids’ lives!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One think that sets our office apart from others is our availability. I’ve been to the office at 11pm to reset lose teeth after an accident, on Christmas morning to repair a broken front tooth, and I’m pretty much always reachable for a phone call or Facetime chat. I always try to imagine what I would want someone to do for me or my family in similar situations and do that for my patients.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a big fan of live music! I’d try to go to The Rustic or White Oak Music Hall. Our family enjoys a nice afternoon at one of the local breweries like Karbach or St. Arnold’s. The kids’ favorite is No Label in Katy. Depending on the weather, we would try to get to Typhoon Texas or the Houston Zoo. And nothing beats a Sunday morning breakfast at Snappy’s in Katy.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would be nothing without my team supporting me! I have the best support staff. They keep me grounded and focused. Ana runs my front desk and manages my schedule. She’s great at taking things off my plate so I can focus on patient care during business hours. Lorena runs our back office. She always makes sure I have what I need and that our patients are properly cared for. We’re a family and I think that really shows when you come into our office.
