We had the good fortune of connecting with LaKisha Mosley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaKisha, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote comes from Bishop T.D. Jake’s book “Disruptive Thinking”. It says, “Disruptive thinkers are people who are willing to endure the temporary discomfort of getting into the next dimension rather than stay within the lines that someone else drew.”
I love this quote because it affirms that it’s ok to color outside the lines. It’s ok to be seen as “disruptive” in this way because in order for me to get to the next level of my success, I have to do things differently and my own way.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the CEO and Founder of The LM Experience, an event consulting and curation firm. I help clients use their events to market their brands, gain visibility, and be profitable. I also curate mental health and wellness experiences for women business leaders.
I have been in business for 12 years and recently shifted into the mental health space, after having a mental breakdown. There were no safe spaces for entrepreneurs and business leaders to get resources or even share what they were dealing with so I created my own. I started hosting mental health workshops and built a collective where we can talk freely about our mental health and have access to mental health and wellness resources.
This journey has not been easy but it has been so worth it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a foodie so when my best friend comes, we will be going to some of my favorite restaurants. I love Joey Uptown for dinner. Grand Lux is a favorite for lunch. For Sunday brunch, B’s Wine Bar is a fav.
For great music and food, Rockhouse is my favorite.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my amazing children, Kaniecia & Kaylon, for always supporting and cheering me on. They motivate and encourage me to keep going even when they do not understand what I am doing.
I also want to dedicate a shoutout to my mentor and boss, Dr. April Day and the Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance (WBEA). Becoming a certified Women Business Entity (WBE) was one of the best decisions I have made in my business. Being a part of the WBEA team is an added blessing. I have been able to shape my business for growth and position myself as a thought leader in my field. It’s an amazing organization that has allowed me to get into rooms and be visible.
