We had the good fortune of connecting with LaKitia Woodard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaKitia, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is the ability to tap into my self awareness to make sure every decision made, action taken, and word spoken is in alignment with my purpose. Every day I wake up with the intention to operate from a place of purpose for constant clarity, happiness, and pure joy.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
During a venting session with a friend that I was pointed in the right direction for truly embracing my purpose. I talked to a close friend about being frustrated about not figuring out my own life’s direction but having no problem helping everyone else do so. Well she told me some simple words I’ll never forget: figure out a way to track the results people have from taking your advice, package it up and sell it. Literally, I had no idea what that meant and took to google to find some answers.

A few months later, A Sister’s Truth, LLC (AST) was launched. AST is a consulting firm specializing in self-awareness that provides life coaching services to women. Our clients learn how to find fulfillment by getting clarity on their purpose and create a customized action plan to pursue it. AST provides one-on-one coaching, online classes, and workshops to open-minded, high achieving women in a sisterhood-focused environment, helping them feel seen and heard. This is done through empathetic partnership and emotional connection.

The ultimate outcome is helping women overcome fears that were holding them back, getting clarity on their purpose, and create a plan of action to move forward in life. As a Sister Coach, it’s my job to get down in the trenches with my clients to push them past their mindset blocks in order to operate from a place of clarity and not fear. What sets AST apart from others is our ability to create a sisterhood and connectedness to clients as they go through their own self awareness journey.

Let me tell you, the journey to become a confident Author, Speaker, Sexual Abuse Survivor, and Sister Coach took years of patience, self-love, and prayer. I was broken at the tender age of 8 when my innocence was stolen. I had conflicted feelings about my body because I wanted to be beautiful but not at the expense of being violated. With therapy and pursuing a relationship with God, I learned how to forgive those who failed me in order to start my healing process.

I learned how to ingrain courage, confidence, compassion, and commitment in myself when no one else would. I learned how to shift my mindset to take more risks and not take my failures for face value. BUT use those failures as a compass to navigate through life. Unfortunately, my journey started off very lonely which is one of the many reasons for starting AST: so other women don’t have to travel their journey to purpose alone.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s so much to do in Houston. Since we love to eat I’ll definitely take them to some local restaurants like: The Breakfast Kub, The Turkey Leg Hut, and Soul Food Vegan. After eating all the rich foods, we have to jog three miles around Memorial Park. We’ll check out the latest production at the Ensemble Theatre or have a spa day at Essential Body Bar. Of course, we’ll have to check our my favorite yogi Mia Bradford with Beyond the Busyness. It’s necessary to end our week reconnecting with God who has made all things possible at Harvest Point Fellowship Church.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Being a big sister has always been a very important job for me. So my inspiration foundation began with my siblings. They have motivated me from the beginning to just keep going. Now my husband has picked up that torch and refuses to let me give up during the tough times. I have three best friends who are constantly pouring into me to make sure my emotional tank is full. It’s a blessing to have people in your corner that recognize the purpose God has placed on your life who vowed to keep you in alignment.
