We had the good fortune of connecting with Langston Hunter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Langston, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is “No man is an Island”, which my Dad would always tell me. The reason I like that quote is because it is a reminder that we cannot do everything on our own and it is never a bad decision to outsource for help in any capacity.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I am most proud of is the steady growth not only in audience, but my confidence and resilience to keep going even in hard times. I am apart of a group based out of Houston called YATUWITHLOVE, that consists of myself, Kunle Day and Poncho P. We have been steadily recording and releasing music for over a decade now, which has not been easy, but we have been pushing thru and it has been great adventure so far. The lessons I have learned on the way have been patience and timing because what may feel like the right time to do something, may not be the best time to do it. YATUWITHLOVE is group that promotes prosperity of love and individuality for one self and others. As cliche as it sounds, I am very excited for the future with projects that are in the pipeline.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to my favorite spots like Kim’s Teahouse and Ramen Tatsuya(a.k.a best Ramen in Houston). If it was a week long trip, I would take them to the spots I already named plus some places to eat and drink that I haven’t been before to try new places. I consider myself a fairly simple person, so we would visit some cool museums, maybe go to the park and just relax to get some sun. One of the days of the trip, I would love to go hiking because I like the outdoors so we would take a trip to Lost Maples or another State Park to just enjoy each other’s company and to just get away.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many to name! First off, shoutout to my group, YATUWITHLOVE, that consists of Kunle Day and Poncho P. Next, would be The Hands of Houston, Britt, Uncle Tino, CA The Don, AMEA, Steve Ngugi, Eduardo Flores, Michael Galardi, Ariel McMahon and last but not least, my Halal Guys (they know who they are). All great people with inspiring stories and words of encouragement.
