We had the good fortune of connecting with Le’Don Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Le’Don, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
We interact with our community on a face to face, and very genuine level. We do our best to always stay true to the essence of what Hip Hop dance culture is meant too be and will continue to be throughout our time here. Peace, Love and Unity is what we promote. We strive to always create a positive environment for any and everyone to be themselves how they see fit, and join in with others that enjoy expressing themselves in the same way.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets us apart from others is how much we put the community before ourselves. The large majority of our time and money goes directly back into the community by way of: events, project resource funds, scholarships, and more. We do our best to give back to the community that has saved us and given us all some of the most memorable times of our lives. It’s not an easy task to do, but it is extremely fulfilling. Seeing our friends, local or not, having the opportunity to join together for dance is one of the best feelings that we can have. We use all of the tools at our disposal to create everlasting experiences for those that are around us, and bring joy to people who would like to join us. Our arms are open and welcome to any and everyone.
Though we had a rough start, our persistence and staying true to who we are and what we love to do has carried us over the last 6 years, and we hope for many more to come.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d surely start out with a day of great eats around the city. Places such as Gatlin’s barbecue, Union Kitchen, Pappadeaux’s and Mo Better Brews.
Then we’d take them to a few of our favorite outdoor places, such as Midtown Park, The Houston Arboretum, Hermann park, and Emancipation Park.
We’d finish off the nights with a few of our favorite late night places to dance such as The Flat, Boondocks, any Place that Soul Control (DJ Mookie Copeland and DJ Elevated) are playing, or any place that DJ Vanilla Trill or Tay Powers are playing.
It would be great week of good food, great scenery, and beautiful vibes presented by some of our favorite DJs in the city.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would love to dedicate this interview to our lovely parents. They gave us the tools to become who we are and have encouraged us to stay true ourselves no matter who tries to change that. We would also Like to send love and respect to Ericka “Babygirl” De Leon, Madison Hoffman, and James “Sugeasy” Singleton.
