We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexie Stoudt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lexie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well, it’s a funny story really. We actually started Two Blondes & A Bakery as a joke. I, Lexie, was stress baking one day and made sooo much food. Taylor was hanging out with me and made a joke about what could go wrong with two blondes in a bakery …. 5 minutes later we had a logo and a Facebook page. We packed all the goodies up in sample boxes and distributed them to our clients and friends and before we knew it we had a bakery business! 2 years later we had commercial clients and needed a commercial kitchen. God had given me a vision of us in a bakery and I told taylor about it… she was like ok lexie, whatever you say. She’s used to my crazy ideas! I wasn’t sure how it would happen BUT GOD! We lost a major contract one week, the next week we would obtain a new contract that would pay 4x the amount of the one we lost. That evening I got a phone call regarding the financing for some equipment I found. The equipment was at a bakery that was losing its location and had decided to shut down. It was brand new, still on the pallet and never been plugged in. The only hiccup left was location. That next day I called a real estate company and they told me the building I wanted wasn’t available. The owner called me a few hours later and said for me, it could be available. So within 48 hours my dream became our reality.

Taylor and I grew up in Huntsville. We love our hometown and we just want to create an atmosphere and experience we wish we had when we were young. Our pricing is very reasonable so that EVERYONE can afford it! I could charge more and make more money … but that’s not what God told me to do so I’m not. Our business is there to encourage others to start their own small business. People come in all the time and ask about our story and we love to share it!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m not sure of what sets me apart from others… I can tell you that I hold true to my values and I bring them into my business and workplace always. I believe if anything was going to set me apart it would be that. I treat everyone with respect. I share my story and my testimony anytime I can. I absolutely love to bake and I love to make people happy. I found a way to do both!

I got where I am today by hard work, determination, and never ever ever giving up.

I’ve learned that it’s not as easy at it looks. Just when you think you’ve patched all the holes… another one always pops up. Every single day holds a new challenge. They can be overcome, but sometimes it takes a few tries. I’ve learned I can’t do this alone. It takes a whole village to chase a dream. I’ve learned that God is faithful day in and day out. I get up every single day and unlock the door to my bakery with faith. I say Lord, I thank you for selling out today. I thank you for bringing customers in my shop. I thank you for the opportunity to share our story and inspire others.

I want the world to know … with God it’s possible. I want the world to know that it’s ok to be relentless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. It’s ok to be told no but try anyways. It’s ok to put yourself and your dreams first and chase them with everything you have. Two Blondes & A Bakery is more than just a place to get a fix for your sweet tooth. It’s a cute little shop that holds a dream that became a reality. It’s 4 walls that share a testimony. It’s a place where you can pull up one of our barstools and sit and watch us work and ask us how we got here and how you should get started. It’s a place to swap stories and motivate one another all while snacking on your favorite treat.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, if I had a friend visiting Huntsville for a week I’d say there was plenty to do! I would start out with a day touring the different historical sights. I would take them to the duck pond and see all of Sam Houston’s houses. Don’t forget bread for the ducks! Then I would take them to 5 Loaves deli for lunch because that’s where their two favorite blondes like to eat! After that I’d take them to the prison museum to see all the things! The next day we’d have to do the town square and go antiquing and finish the day with a facial at RejuvMB, conveniently located on the square! We can’t forget about visiting the towns oldest hardware store, Walker County Hardware. They have the cutest gift department!! I would also take them for an overnight trip out at The Williams Ranch. It’s the most relaxing little ranch in Huntsville. You can fish, paddle boat, ride horses, and escape from reality! Finally, I’d have to make sure they got to spend time with me at Two Blondes & A Bakery enjoying their treat of choice!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, Two Blondes exists because of Jesus Christ. The dream was planted in my heart by him. It wouldn’t be possible without his grace and mercy.

My other inspiration is my pappaw, Charlie. He was an entrepreneur himself and always told me “Lexie girl, if you get up and do what you love you’ll never work a day in your life.” He was always encouraging to chase my dreams.
