We had the good fortune of connecting with Liliana Salas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Liliana, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. My parents, both immigrants from Mexico, have profoundly influenced who I am today. My mom, originally from Zacatecas, and my dad, from Jalisco, crossed the border seeking a better life for our family.
Growing up in a household that celebrated my Mexican heritage while navigating life in America has been a unique experience. My parents instilled in me the values of hard work, resilience, and determination, which are qualities they embodied as they adapted to a new culture while holding onto their Mexican roots.
The lessons of perseverance and adaptability I learned from their journey have shaped my worldview and aspirations. Living in a diverse city like Houston has also allowed me to connect with people from different backgrounds.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I graduated from the University of Houston in December 2016, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Marketing, with a minor in Sales. During my college years, I worked as a cashier at my local supermarket. After graduating, I was promoted to Assistant Manager and eventually became the Store Manager. This role not only helped me come out of my shell, but also allowed me to cultivate valuable leadership and customer service skills. While I cherished my time at the supermarket, I felt it was time to explore new opportunities for professional growth.
In August 2022, I embarked on a new chapter as a Firm Administrator at a law firm, where I have gained extensive knowledge and experience. I currently hold the position of Business Development and Onboarding Specialist, further enhancing my expertise in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Alongside my full-time role, I operate a small photography business called Misslilisalas Photography, specializing in outdoor sessions for graduations, birthdays, couples, and families. I also engage in content creation for social media. I enjoy exploring my city and sharing my experiences, from discovering new restaurants to trying different coffee shops and visiting various parks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m grateful to have my little sister, Jessica, be my number one supporter when it comes to creating social media content. Her support and encouragement have been instrumental in my journey as a content creator. In fact, she was the one who helped me take the leap and record my very first YouTube video. To this day, Jessica continues to be my go-to person for filming and taking photos. She’s always there to lend a helping hand when it comes to filming content. I’m so thankful to have her by my side as I navigate the world of social media.
