We had the good fortune of connecting with Lina Paola Parra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lina Paola, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I decided to start Ava’s Air Conditioning and Heating Llc last year after being in the industry more than 15 years. I had worked for many companies in and out of Houston and I saw how much of a demand it was. I decided I wanted to open my own company and bring a different perspective, customer service and representation of how a women runs in this industry. As you know men dominate Havc but I wanted that challenge and I’m up for it. The name Ava comes from my Three daughters, Alexa, Valentina and Aaliyah. It’s definitely been a hard and long road to be where I am at but I’m looking forward to impacting people along the way. From my workers to my clients. At Ava’s we become family. That’s why our motto is “ Integrity Is Our Goal “

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are an HVAC company that’s works both in residential and commercial properties. We work all over Houston. What sets my company apart from any other company out there today is my devotion and personal care I take into everything I do. From the time I come to your home I treat everyone with honesty and respect. I think it’s pretty cool that men see me and know that I’m not scared to get in their attic and explain to them any questions or doubts they have. Women love that I can come out and explain something they have no idea about and it makes them more comfortable that I’m a women. Like I have said before my main priority is quality and care.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m Colombian so I love to go dance, Fabian’s downtown is a cool hang out place. My dad is Lebanese so I also enjoy going to see belly dancers.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest motivate are my daughters, I became a young mother at 17 and now having 3 I feel like I have to show them that as long as they work to achieve their goals, they will never owe anyone anything. When one door closes just have trust in the man above because things happen for a reason. That new door may have more opportunities than that closed one
