We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa René and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Anderson, a small town in central Indiana. My early years were marked by deep trauma, which I unknowingly buried until plant medicines helped me uncover and heal it years later. Growing up, I faced relentless bullying in elementary and middle school, and when my mom passed away when I was 14, I believed God had abandoned me. For a long time, I felt lost, disconnected from love and my own voice.

The past 15 years have been a journey of rediscovering the love I had buried along with my pain. Through this process, I found my purpose—I call myself a “Vocal Doula,” supporting people in birthing their voices. Whether it’s speaking their truths or singing with confidence, I hold space for self-love and help others reconnect with the light within them. That spark. The one I, too, had to reclaim.

What should our readers know about your business?
My work is all about helping people reclaim their voice, whether through speaking their truth or singing with confidence. I call myself a Vocal Doula because I guide people in birthing their authentic voice, creating a safe space for self-expression, healing, and empowerment. I’m also a musician and space holder, weaving together sound, energy work, and deep presence to help others find their inner spark.

What sets me apart is my ability to hold space for transformation. I don’t just teach techniques; I create an experience where people feel safe enough to let go of fear, step into their power, and embrace their voice fully. I’ve been through my own journey of overcoming trauma and silencing myself, and I bring that deep understanding into my work.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. I had to break free from societal expectations, unlearn years of self-doubt, and trust my own path. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that authenticity is everything. The more I show up as my full, unapologetic self, the more I attract the right people into my space, those who are truly ready to embrace their voice.

I want the world to know that your voice matters. Whether it’s in a conversation, on a stage, or simply in your daily life, your truth deserves to be heard. My work is about helping people uncover and amplify that truth, guiding them back to their own power, their own sound, and their own light.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The book Fierce Conversations by Susan Scott taught me that it’s okay to have my own opinion and to be heard. It showed me how to embrace authenticity, even when it’s difficult, and gave me the tools to navigate tough conversations with confidence. This directly supports the work I do with my clients—guiding them into their authentic voice, helping them speak their truths, and empowering them to communicate with clarity and courage. So many different teachers and guides have come into my life at different moments to support my awakening. I am so grateful.
