We had the good fortune of connecting with Lizzet Aguillon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lizzet, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It felt like happenstance. I love cheese, and I love beautiful displays. I had seen charcuterie boards online and fell in love with the idea of beautiful snacks. It really started as a fun project for date night and friendly gatherings but everyone encouraged me to pursue it professionally. So I threw caution to the wind and went for it, haven’t looked back since.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create beautiful and delicious charcuterie boxes, boards and grazing tables. they are made with lots of cheese, some soft, some hard, some gooey but all delicious. Cured meats, seasonal fruits, and lots of sweets, I’m a chocolate lover. What sets me apart from other is that each creation is a unique art piece. I pride myself in making it all look beautiful. I pay attention to all details, from the color of fruits, the flavor of the cheese, the grape clusters, to the salami roses. I want it all to feel like I made it with you in mind. What is most exciting to me is creating grazing tables, It’s a bigger canvas but it’s also a bigger challenge. My Journey has been both easy and hard. Somethings just fell into place and others are still coming a long. I’m pretty new to the business and It has been hard to gain a following and learning to navigate social media. I’m working on building a more active presence in social media, I also have a few collaborations in the works. I’ve learned to be patient and to do research, lots of it. I want to know everything about cheese, meats and grazing because this will help me create a better end product. I want people to know that I make beautiful charcuterie boards and that I genuinely care about creating a high quality graze and memorable experience.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend to the beach in Galveston. We would start by getting breakfast burritos at one of our local taquerias. Followed by a stroll in the strand, our downtown area. We would check out all the boutiques. Grab a chocolate covered strawberry from the chocolate factory as we make our way to my favorite coffee shop, Mod coffee house. We would make quick stop to take pictures at the art wall in front of the coffee shop. We would then spend the rest of the afternoon at the beach were we would a have beautiful picnic and charcuterie board accompanied by a bottle of sparkling wine. The rest of the week we would definitely eat at shrimp and stuff, suki poke by the seawall, Gino’s and Happy Buddha. I would also take my friend on a tour of the oldest houses on the island and the tree sculptures. Definitely spend a day at the pleasure pier where we would ride all the thrilling rides and eat too much funnel cake. There’s so many delicious places to eat and great places to visit in Galveston.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
