We had the good fortune of connecting with Luis Banda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Luis, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
In my personal experience I found to realize that if you truly love something and you’re passionate about it you would never give it up completely, many times I felt like giving up music but always found my way back, sometimes it’s just good to take a break from things and just relax and have fun, we can get loss in the routine sometimes that we forget to enjoy life, so my advice to everyone that may be feeling like if they should keep on going or quit is just take a break, go have fun try new things, and if after you get your rest you still feel like you don’t want to do it, than yeah it’s not meant to be, but if you truly passionate about it you are going to be eager to get back to work, learn to balance your schedule, and listen to your body as well.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I been working on music for 10 years now, recorded my first song in 2011 and after so many years shot my first music video in 2020 during the pandemic, I had totally gave up on music but after everything shut down due to covid I found myself at home with nothing to do but listen to rap instrumentals like how I would do back in them high school days years ago, I started to take things seriously after I seen so many people liked the visuals and I came to realize that I wasn’t done with music and that it was my therapy, I was holding so much stress in that I needed to let it all out, music helps me out in so many ways that working out and other things wouldn’t. I can truly say that this journey been hard, so many ups and downs, so many times that I felt that I was just throwing money down the drain, family friends that wouldn’t support, and people think it’s easy, there’s so much to this game than just creating music and releasing, so much money that goes into recording, videos, promoting etc etc, and sometimes you don’t get the results you want and it can get frustrating, so if you have a friend that is an artist or is pursuing something be supportive, you don’t know how much they will appreciate it.
Learn from your mistakes and be patient, everything comes to you in due time, just stay consistent with your work and keep going, you will realize along your journey that you will rather feel tired than feel regret.
What I want the world to know about me at the end of the day,
to be honest would be my story,
I share a little piece of my life in each of my songs, it’s like mini puzzles, but they all connect to me in the end, hoping somebody relates to what I been thru in my life, and sometimes just have a good time, enjoy some good vibes and have a good time nothing else.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In you in the city for the first time and you want to really have a good time you must definitely hit the bars in the downtown area, Washington st, main st, and the midtown area will definitely fit that category, drinks, good music, beautiful women, and the vibes! You have to check it out, but if you in the mood of something else more exciting you have to check out the Extreme Off-road park in the Crosby area, that place it’s so lit, no way you won’t have a good time there.
So many good Food places we have in Houston that I can’t really say I have a favorite one, we have so much variety that whatever you in the mood of you can find and most of the time you won’t be disappointed.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My younger brother Jay Vii, owner of Clika 7 and Vii Roses Productions, it’s a big part of my success, I feel like I always been the muscle and he’s been the brain, I tried so many times to learn how to mix and master my songs and shoot videos but I never had the patient to actually sit down and learn it, he’s done all that, for so long we got tired of spending all that money on studio sessions and videos that we decided to do it ourselves, the rate that we release music has increased so much thanks to him, since we were kids he’s always been having my back so yeah he deserves a lot of credit when it comes down to both my professional and personal life, also my parents for always believing in me and supporting me, at first they may had doubts about my goals but after some time of constantly seeing me working hard they came to realize that it wasn’t total bs what I was saying, they always been there with me in my ups and downs, when I was young I made some bad decisions and they could’ve totally gave up on me and made me learn the hard way but they never left me to die alone, I can’t truly say I’m blessed, thanks to my family I wouldn’t be the man I am today.
