We had the good fortune of connecting with Luis “Luiggi” Altamirano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luis “Luiggi”, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My work life has changed dramatically since last year since the birth my my son. I used to go out more often and didn’t pay too much attention to my daily routine. Ever since my son was born, I’ve crafted a pretty consistent schedule with work life balance. I have set days off my job in order to focus on the Band and have set time aside for my tattooing business.

Spending time with my son is important to me so my schedule is helping with that. Hardly any days off but idle hands are the devils worship right?

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe what sets us aprt from others is the blend of influences in our music. My bandmates have distinct taste in types of rock and we work on blending hard rock/metal with indie influences. The product seems to come out as Frankenstein monster of sorts.

Learning to collaborate willingly and openly was a first for me. Being vulnerable with personal songs and leaving my ego at the door in the song writing process was challenging.

I’m really looking forward to releasing polished music for the first time as well. It’s all very exciting. I’m also a tattoo artist on the side so art in general has been a very big part of my life and expression.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m originally from New Jersey and lived very close to NYC before I came to Houston so I’m all about checking new places out.
I’m a massive movie goer so I go to the movies by the mall in the woodlands a lot.
I love the Woodlands Waterway. There’s many bars and restaurants that I frequent with my friends. I enjoy a more chill vibe as I got a little older. Bar Louie and Cyclone Anaya are my go to spots. The boys do enjoy going to Ojos Locos after a gig or practice. Sort of became tradition haha. We enjoy a good Emo night at Numbers downtown for sure!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my mother who is my biggest supporter and helps me with my son at times if I have to handle business. I couldn’t do it without her.

My bandmates GrayBlue and Danny Tabs for holding it down in our journey making music. Music has always been a huge part of my life and the guys are a big help with our music as an outlet. They have helped tap into a whole new level of creativity I didn’t know I had. We really try to bring out the best of each other and I think it shows in our songs.

Paul “ The terrible Texan” Nelson is our Producer and fellow musician. He has good insight and has been a big help on our Album making process.
