We had the good fortune of connecting with Mahdi Bey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mahdi, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor behind the success that I’ve garnered is simply being myself unapologetically.
Throughout the years, I’ve been able to experience and see so many different things and have so many different opportunities offered to me. Each one that I was able to receive I got it simply by being myself!

I feel sometimes it’s so easy to try to fit in with the mold of what society wants us to be simply because it’s more tolerable to people , in response to that , in my Tiffany “New York” pollard voice “you can choke !” I never want to be tolerated by anyone , if I’m not appreciated I’d rather not be around!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well first of all I want to thank you guys for allowing me to do another article ! I’m so thankful for this opportunity!

As a model and entertainer staying true to myself has been the golden rule of my life.
My life has never been the easiest, but keeping my goals in mind has consistently pushed me through my hardest moments.

In the year of 2021 I was blessed to put out a single entitled “Xspensive” for the world to hear , of course in my mind I believed everything would work itself out career wise , however life had other plans for me , two years later unfortunately I lost my sister to gun violence….. that had to be one of the most difficult things for me to endure thus far , losing her made me lose a piece of myself and for 6 months following that I just overall felt out of it, and shut down, however deep down I knew I had to keep going , I knew she would want me to continue and plus I had wayyy too many songs written and already worked on to give up.

I allowed myself to take a hiatus to just learn to live again , during that time I spent time with very special people and did something that I hadn’t done in years ….enjoy the simplicity of life without focusing on modeling or making music ,

I was able to find so much inspiration to write and pull from during that time , experiencing life , love , loss , and revived happiness was a beautiful feeling.

Around February of the following year I got back in touch with my amazing team , including my producer Ches and started preparing myself for some amazing projects as well as recording new music that I can’t wait to reveal in the new year ! It’s long overdue !!

My new single is so so different than my last one , recording this was such a fun opportunity and I was able to try some new things in the studio , it’s very sexy, yet classy and I’m finally learning to be okay with that , as well as embrace that part of who I am at 25!!

I feel like in a way I’m shedding an old era and embracing my confidence, maturity , adulthood and being in and navigating my mid 20s

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a very interesting question because one of my very best friends actually moved out to the dmv area not too long ago for a beautiful job opportunity, I miss her so much !

so if (and when ) she makes it back down we’d start with breakfast at the breakfast klub in midtown , ( I love their chicken and waffles !) Then have a beautiful day of shopping at the galleria.

From there we’d go to one of my favorite spots for lunch which is frenchy’s chicken ( specifically the one in 3rd ward ) to get a little southern cuisine, frenchy’s has some of the best chicken !!!

Following that I feel like we’d maybe do dinner at a lovely restaurant, then be spontaneous and visit a few of our other friends and maybe have a night out in montrose or downtown and hit up a few of our favorite bars !!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely want to continuously thank the most high for constantly guiding me day to day!

As far as support, I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it wasn’t for the constant support of my mother and family , my beautiful friends and supporters, and of course the entertainers and models who have inspired me along the way

I also want to dedicate this article to the memory of my sister who I lost in 2023 … I love you Dayja !
