We had the good fortune of connecting with Mahmoud Irannezhad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mahmoud, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
As a dentist, I occasionally come across a very special individual that has had especially difficult life circumstances that I feel I need to help in whichever way I can. Sometimes, it isn’t an entire comprehensive makeover case, but something in the moment that I felt I needed to do to restore faith in our profession that sometimes gets a bad rap. Growing up my mom would routinely have us volunteer, especially during the holidays, so we can develop an appreciation for what we have. That has been ingrained in me and I continue to serve in any capacity I can and enjoy participating in charity events that raise money for the less fortunate as well. Additionally, I have had the privilege of providing healthcare to different countries, like Honduras and Guatemala, where I realized oral health takes on a completely different meaning along with the way I provide it also has to be in a different form. I can only hope that these efforts continue to inspire others in our world and that I have the ability to continually help improve lives.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I opened my own dental practice, Inspire Dentistry, June 2025 in the Spring Branch/ Memorial area of Houston, TX. I am excited about the lives I have yet to change. I am excited for the opportunity to treat people in a judgement-free zone where we focus on the patient experience. Going to the dentist and dentistry doesn’t often have the best reputation and I work hard to try and improve that narrative. I not only have an opportunity to improve the health of an individual, but I can help them gain confidence and hope to inspire them to live their best life!

My biggest challenge in my previous positions as an employee was I did not have the full authority to treat patients and team members the way I would have liked to all the time. As an employee I had to decide between what I thought was best and what the C-suite or managers may have thought was a better approach. Now that I have full autonomy, it is up to me to carry out what I’ve been wanting to see in our our profession as patient-centered care. I fully believe if I take care of my great team members and create an opportunity of positivity and growth, then they feel empowered to assist me in taking care of my patients in the way they need to be taken care of. It wasn’t always easy, but my past patients and staff members have inspired me and, unbeknownst to them, they have pushed me into believing I can do great things by building my own practice. I’ve had countless mentors and mentees that have shaped my perspective over the years and helped build my confidence to be where I am now. Many books and podcasts have been pivotal in my growth as well (ask me which ones)!

I want people to know that hard work can still get you places and compassion and understanding of others can bring you great success! I want you to know that there are good dentists in this world who won’t judge, have compassion, and will take the time to listen to your wants before telling you what you need. I also want you to know that just because you hate the dentist doesn’t mean the dentist hates you 😉 Dentists have fillings too, treat them kindly!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start by going to brunch at A’bouzy or Breakfast Klub depending on the vibe. Then see one of the great sports team this city has depending on the time of year or maybe even go to a couple games throughout the week! During the week we could make time to go KA Sushi, KP’s Kitchen, Barcelona Wine Bar, dim sum in Bellaire, pickleball or golfing at East River 9, or a comedy show at the Houston Improv. There’s so much to do and eat in Houston that you can’t go wrong with all types of cultures and cuisines to pick from and enjoy!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I’d like to thank god for giving me the opportunity to make someone new smile each day and the mental fortitude to overcome my obstacles. Next, I’d like to thank my mom for showing me what true strength, perseverance, and love means, and my dad for giving me the tools and opportunity of a lifetime to be where we are as a family today. Shoutout to my sister for always making me laugh and keeping me humble. I’d also like to shoutout my friends and mentors: Rachel Finelli, Kevin Nguyen, Viet Lam, Ahmed Sabbah, Chaz Horton, Sidharth Reddy, Mayleen Tsang, and Paul Bates. Lastly, I’d like to thank my current and past team members and my patients. You all push me to be a better doctor and inspire me to be a great leader!
