We had the good fortune of connecting with Mari Carrasco and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mari, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am a mother of 4 girls. I decided to stay home with them and place my personal dreams on hold. After more than 20 years of being a stay at home mum and watching my girls develop into incredible young women, I decided I wanted to show them that is never too late to go after your passion.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My childhood influences from diverse cultures combined Gothic Cathedral, Roman Castles, moorish architecture, flamenco dancers-an amalgam of the best is Spanish style accompanied by the most beautiful paradisiac turquoise waters in the Caribbean with its powder sugar beaches and sky high palm trees. Cuba was my birth place and Spain my childhood playground. These influences are reflected in my vision for my brand. With my commitment to quality and the passion to unique designs.
I believe that luxury is effortless, sophistication is sexy and a unique hand crafted curated design is more stylish when worn with a confident smile.
Hardships is part of every entrepreneur story. Building my brand with very little capital raised by my savings from after school care to my neighbors children, enduring my home flooded from hurricane Harvey where all my energy and resources turned into survival mode, to surviving a pandemic.
I truly believe that my positive attitude and believing in my dreams has gotten me to where I am today. Sharing my passion of beautiful natural semiprecious stones and their magical energy they radiate combined into a unique design where they connect with my client collectors is the absolute best feeling, specially when the client shares how happy they are with chosen treasures.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston is the Mecca of amazing restaurants, incredible art exhibits, theater and overall a very welcoming incredible city. Some of my favorite spots to dine-in are small mom and pop restaurants like “Mezza Grill” or “Hungry’s”
My girls love movies, so taking them to “Star Cinema Grill” who is locally own and operated is a treat in itself. Their luxurious ambiance and amazing food makes for an incredible experience to any new visitors to the area.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many influences in this category. First, my mum and dad for allowing me to dream big always, to gives me the opportunity of the American dream by leaving their families behind and moving to the USA, to always walk in confidence and to stay true to myself.
Also, several entrepreneur friends to whom I leaned for support and knowledge.
