We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariah Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mariah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always hated the thought of working for someone else. I always wanted to work when I wanted to work, not when someone else told me I had to. When I started my business, I knew I was starting because not only was I a teen mom, but I knew I wanted something to be able to give to my daughter when she’s older (if she’s interested.)
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It definitely has not been an easy journey. Dealing with depression while trying to run a business by yourself has been one of the hardest things I have had to learn to do. Some days it feels impossible to even just get out of bed, but knowing you have to get orders out, make products, post on social medias, it’s hard. You just have to take one day at a time and tell yourself better days are coming, with that being said, I am beyond excited for what the future holds for not only GMZ Collections, but for myself as well.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without my girls, Julia Deleon, Arrianna Gracia, Savannah Rangel, and Megan Gomez, who have been my biggest supporters since day one that I started my business. They have helped me at my lowest, and supported me at my highest moments!
