We had the good fortune of connecting with Marie Lavoux and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marie, what inspires you?
My inspiration comes from nature, moon gazing, and the unknown things of the universe. Creation is an amazing and very intriguing place that quite frankly has so many mysteries. The fact that I am a part of it… actually made up of the same ingredients as the stars and moon amazes and inspires. Inspires me to exercise my greatness, discovering all my own mysteries through writing and encouraging others to do the same!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The Boug-Ghetto Chronicles, a series of books that could be considered self help yet, very ghetto. I like to categorize them as self help with a twist. Being a product of the 80’s crack epidemic and surviving the 90’s yet, college educated I have the flair to appeal to people from all walks of life. I do so in a manner that somewhat merges two worlds causing each mindframe to understand the other.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m more less introverted, I enjoy grilling in my own back yard, card games, and a tasty dessert. However, if I must come away from my home, I enjoy the Montrose area tremendously. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
At this time in life it would have to be two people. My spouse Metri and youngest sun Bryan. My spouse Metri who is a artist and creator, has broadened my perspective on all things in life. He has such an eloquent way of communicating things that I just understand them and can expound on them in my own creative expressions. I am grateful for him. @Metri_Orun_Legba on Instagram. My sun Bryan was robbed and brutally murdered in November 2020. My sun didn’t have a gun. A college educated young man who wanted change for the community. His life and legacy must live on so, I’ve decided to start a foundation encouraging the youth to put down the guns. I will do this by involving the mothers who are usually the most influential part in raising children. Our youth must learn critical thinking and problem solving, this is the only way things will change in our communities
