We had the good fortune of connecting with Markesha Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Markesha, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in Houston, Texas & raised in Los Angeles, California. Because majority of my background of living resided in Los Angeles there was always a different way to view life. My parents were very hard workers because of the cost of living. Often times my father also picked up additional odd jobs to help feed my sister and brother when we lived in the heart of South Central during the 90s. Our family not only faced rough times with gang wars in the inter city but we faced a really tough challenge when I became pregnant as a teenager and my parents made the decision to help me raise my son while I still attended high school full time. That taught me to pursue my dreams and work hard at it. Never give up even in spite of your current circumstances no matter how bad they look. Nothing comes to a dreamer without hard work and a lot of sacrifice. These combination of sacrifices at an early age shaped the person you see today. I work hard & I don’t believe in quitting under any circumstance. Yes I’ve had many nights where I wanted to give up. However the culture of my raising in Los Angeles and from my parents birthed endless resilience.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I currently reside in Houston and travel frequently to Los Angeles on business with the wines so at the moment I’m bicoastal. However I do spend more time in Houston given the nature of establishing the business. When my best friends visits Houston we generally hit local wineries in the area. Houston & it’s surrounding cities have some the most amazing hidden jewels of wines near The Woodlands/Spring & Conroe. Then for dinner we would hit the southwest side of Housotn located in teh Richmond area to indulge in some authentic Ethiopian food & drinks. We do some boutique shopping in Rice village and hang out at central market’s chocolate factory to do more wine tasting. I’m pretty sure the entire trip would be surrounded by wine travel!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First & foremost I have to shout out God. Without the foundation of my creator none of my efforts to pursue my dreams would be possible. Then my mom Diretha Davis Diamond, a women who exemplified what never giving up looks like. She’s super woman in every sense of the word. She’s never judgmental always available and has always been my biggest cheerleader. My grandmother Mildred Lawson. During my first tough tribulation in life my grandmother was there every step of the way even while living in Los Angeles. Her words of encouragement that she would pour into me gave me power along with her powerful endless prayer sessions. Her prayers still bless me to this day. My family on my dad side Rene, Mamie, Yolan, Jamail & my mom side Aunt Carolyn, Aunt Gwen & Aunt Freda are all very powerful people. Their strength has kept me fighting for what I believe in all these years. Finally a very big shoutout to my sons who shaped me to be the woman and mother I am today. They are patient and protective, encouraging and they to never give up, I love them.
