We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquis Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marquis, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risks are necessary for growth. I believe the way life works is you reap what you sow and in order to get what you want out of it you’re going to be put in some uncomfortable situations. When I first moved to Houston in Spring 2020, it was one of the biggest risks of my life. I had no family, no connections, and did not know the city from the back of my hand. Today, the growth I’ve made is attributed to those risks

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my media company Spring 2021 after quitting my job at a local bank, What sets me apart is my approach the clients vision, many of them have an idea but are unsure on how to display it and that is where I come in to assist them in laying out the whole plan and capture it to their liking. The creating part is easy, the most difficult time I have is funding. Alongside my company, I work a part-time job in fashion to support the stories I want to tell. I’m still learning how to overcome these speed bumps, because “he who puts his hand and turns around is not worth to serve in the kingdom of God.” My brand Questvizi Media is creative driven and will curate the vision of our clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m very random when it comes to getting out in the city, and there are just so many options to go. For food, if Bun B has his pop up going I’m definitely taking them to Trill Burger, if not then Stuff’d Wings it is. If they want to drink a cool place I found is called the Sugar Room, and hangout I like Agora cafe. The Graffiti park is a great place to check out and take pictures and if your a sports fan Houston is home to the Astros, Rockets, Texans, and more. Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Lil Keke, and so many others are always roaming the city so you’re bound to see them somewhere. I can’t give out all of my spots.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In March 2022, after receiving a internship at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). I was still making a name for myself in the city, no one knew who I was or what I brought to the table. I had been getting more into fashion, so I attended a workshop for the brand HueyzWorld hosted at Social Status Houston. There someone noticed me with a big VHS camcorder in my hand and took interest, her name was Duffy she was the event organizer. We remained in touch and she was one of the main reasons I was able to gain confidence in my work, by continuously booking me for work and allowing me to collaborate on events. Thank you Duff!
