Meet Samantha Loesch: Head of Samantha’s Artistry – Airbrush Makeup & Hair Team

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Loesch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, what’s been your favorite thing to do during quarantine?
Oh goodness where do I start. Who else feels like they have become a master organizer during the quarantine?! I’d say my house is the most organized it’s ever been! I also started a mini garden on my patio which I am more than ecstatic about! Who knew growing your own basil and mint could be so rewarding? With all this time on my hands, I’ve also learned how to edit video’s and photos, which is definitely an on-going learning experience. And of course, we can’t leave out makeup, hair and beauty blogging! Trying new makeup & hair techniques (on myself) are really challenging me and getting me extra excited for the day we can start working with clients safely again! The blogging seems to be keeping me sane while I reminisce on past beauty shoots and weddings.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My absolute favorite form of art is the art of beauty! I specialize in airbrush makeup, I travel around the world teaching different makeup techniques and working with photographers. I also have an amazing team of artists that work along my side at weddings and photoshoots. Our makeup & hair team helps build confidence in beautiful souls across the world. When I look back to 10 years ago, people would ask “what do you want to do in the beauty industry?” My response: “Travel the world to do makeup & hair.” I can gratefully say I have been able to achieve that goal! Over the past 5 years I have been blessed with many opportunities to travel to places such as Thailand, Lithuania, Spain, Canada and all over the United States, teaching makeup classes and enhancing women’s beauty. So how did I get to where I am today? Aside from the artistry itself, networking and availability has a ton to do with it! I had the realization about 7 years ago, if I’m not available for a client or photographer, then they are going to move on to the next artist, so availability and creating new relationships is key! Also, accepting jobs out of your comfort zone can take you places you never dreamed! If you would have told little ol’ me in high school speech class that I would be teaching makeup classes in front of an audience I would have laughed at you! Now I teach in front of a crowd all around the world, simply because I decided to say “yes” to the opportunity even though I was quite honestly, terrified! Was it easy? Facing my phobia of public speaking? HECK NO! I was mortified! But I was not going to let this opportunity surpass me without at least trying. Want to know my secret? Tricking my brain, no seriously! I say a little pep talk before I went on each stage that went a little something like this: “These people have no idea who I am so I really can be whoever I want to be on that stage. So, who do I want to be? Confident, funny, creative and knowledgeable. Okay, I got this, this is going to be fun, I am excited, I am going to do great!” And I did! When I felt nervous, I showed confidence and a smile. Over the course of time, that “fake confidence” turned into REAL CONFIDENCE! Isn’t it crazy how that works? Mind over matter. What do I want the world to know about my brand and story? We relate to you! We are a hardworking team of women pursuing our dreams and we understand life can get crazy, but we also understand that we deserve to be pampered. As women, we must empower each other emotionally and physically! Of course, we want to enhance your features with our makeup & hair services, but we also want to create an environment of happiness, optimism and trust.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Luckily being in Houston, there is usually something fun going on! One of my favorite places is a hidden gem downtown called Secret Garden, the ambiance is like out of a fairy tale book! I’m a foodie, so I love trying new food everywhere I go, so good food spots are a must! Here are a few of my favorites are Jupiter’s, Flower Child, Cyclone Anaya’s (best margaritas-ever!), Ciro’s, Grub Burger (the veggie burger is to die for), India’s, Hungary’s, Miss Carousel, and Fadi’s. Sunday’s are perfect for brunch at Hamburger Mary’s! Going bike riding at Memorial park, or taking a day trip to Round Rock to go hiking or tubing in San Marcos is always a blast. There is also this super fun hidden burlesque show downtown, it really feels like your in the Prohibition! The zoo, museum and art district is fun way to un-wind from the craziness.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my students. They give me the chance to share my life passion with fellow creatives, and I feel it is shaping me into a better artist each and every day.
