We had the good fortune of connecting with Marvin Diaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marvin, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Working for other people resulted in me losing time with my family. I named my business after my son Luka to remind every day that my doing it for my 5 kids. They spend a lot time in the restuarant with me learning the business and allowing me to be a big part of their life.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Starting a business is not easy but when you have a dream you’ll do anything to make it successful. Having a business with a overhead from rent to food cost can be the biggest challenge keeping the doors open. We take pride in great service and above par food. Last but not least through prayer we are able to leave our destiny in the hands of God.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First things first we are going to Lukas BBQ in Clear Lake for lunch and Lukas BBQ in Kemah for dinner. If it’s Sunday we are going to church to praise the lord.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I came to this country when I was 16 years old with not a dime to my name. The American Dream of owning your own business and creating a foundation for my blood time to always have a way to support them and their families is all the motivation I need. I want to thank my wife and kids for pushing and supporting me everyday of this journey.
