We had the good fortune of connecting with Monera James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monera, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I believe that work life balance changes consistently and will look different day by day. What balance means to me is delegating as much time as possible for myself, family, friends, and business. One day will not look like the other some days I can check off everything on my list and somedays I may only check one. No amount of scheduling is guaranteed that you will not drop the ball in some area of your life. The point is to keep picking it up and trying not drop it in the same area as before. Give yourself grace, you have to do what you can when you can and not be hard on yourself, especially if you are doing your absolute best!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a fashion and style enthusiast since my toddler years I am elated to finally be sharing my passion with the world! Putting myself out there has not been the easiest journey. Lot’s of self work and persistence has gotten me to where I am today. I chose to walk by faith and not by sight while trusting my higher power to order my steps. I have learned that living in fear will never allow me to reach my fullest potential. I am proud that I get up everyday and go for it despite the challenges that may come. I will continue to go for my dreams even if I am scared. I want the world to know that anything is possible when you believe in yourself. How did I get here? I imagined my highest self then started showing up as that.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If my best friend were visiting Houston for a week this is what we would do! Each day will have a theme. Mood Monday: Ross, HomeGoods, & Home Decor Shopping in the Heights or River Oaks Taco Tuesday: Torchy’s Tacos (the best tacos in Texas in my opinion) + Margaritas of course 😉 Wine Down Wednesday: Wine Down on Almeda for Happy Hour and Girl Talk Thoughtful Thursday: Museum District (we would take our kiddos) Fun Friday: Drive in Movie downtown at Discovery Green or iPic in the River Oaks District Soulful Saturday: Day Party at Seaside or The Address, Evening Poetry and Live Music at the Alley Kat followed by a late night brunch at The Breakfast Klub! Self Care Sunday: Mani/Pedi’s followed by Thrifting in Montrose (Buffalo Exchange, The Pavement, Antique Stores)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to send a general shoutout to ALL the beautiful people who are building their businesses from the ground up while working a 9-5 and supporting their families at the same time. This journey is quite unique and we are making it happen! You are my biggest supporters, motivators, and role models.
