We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Cervantes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mary, why did you pursue a creative career?
I started this business from a very personal place. I once had a tattoo from a previous relationship, and as I moved forward and began a new chapter in my life, I realized it was hard to fully embrace something new while carrying a visible reminder of my past. Going through the tattoo removal process myself was both emotional and empowering—it gave me confidence, closure, and a fresh start.

That experience inspired me to open a laser hair and tattoo removal business so I could help others do the same. My goal is to provide a safe, judgment-free space where clients can feel supported as they remove what no longer represents them and make room for who they are becoming.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business was built from a deeply personal experience and a strong desire to help others reclaim confidence and control over how they are represented. I specialize in laser hair and tattoo removal, and what truly sets my business apart is the intention behind it. This isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about fresh starts, healing, and empowerment in a safe, judgment-free space.

I’m most proud of the trust my clients place in me. Many come in carrying stories, emotions, and past chapters they’re ready to move on from. Being part of that transformation is something I never take lightly. I focus on education, honesty, and customized treatments, making sure every client feels heard, respected, and informed throughout their journey.

Getting to where I am today was not easy. Like many entrepreneurs, I faced fear, financial risk, self-doubt, and the challenge of building something from the ground up. I overcame those challenges through persistence, continuous education, and surrounding myself with supportive people who believed in me—especially my husband. I learned to trust the process, stay consistent, and never compromise my values for quick results.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that growth comes from discomfort. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and setbacks are part of the journey, not signs to quit. I’ve also learned the importance of leading with compassion—toward clients and toward myself.

What I want the world to know about my brand is that it’s rooted in authenticity. I understand my clients because I’ve been in their shoes. My story, my work, and my business are all about helping people let go of what no longer serves them and confidently step into who they are becoming.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit Baytown, Texas, I’d want them to experience a mix of great food, dancing, drinks, local vibes, and of course a fun coastal escape to Galveston. Here’s how I’d plan the ultimate week-long trip—relaxed, exciting, and full of memories.

Welcome to Baytown (Food & Catch-Up drinks)
We’d start the night with dinner at El Toro Mexican Restaurant—great margaritas, warm tortillas, and all the comforting Mexican flavors to set the mood. After that, we’d head somewhere with live Tejano music—cold drinks, and a dance floor full of two-stepping, cumbias, and that electric local vibe. The perfect way to kick off the week with rhythm, culture, and good company.

Dancing & Nightlife
Dinner first at Texas Roadhouse—casual, delicious, and filling. Then it’s dancing and drinks at Coyote Bar, where the music, energy, and crowd make it easy to dance all night.

We would have a great time just hanging out shopping, catching-up, drinking, and dancing. Definitely take a scenic drive to Galveston for a fun day at the beach. Soaking up the sun, listening to great music, relaxed with a drink in our hands, and beautiful ocean view.

What makes Baytown special to me is the balance—you can dance all night, eat amazing food, and still escape to the beach whenever you want. It’s about good energy, good people, and creating moments that feel easy, fun, and real.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Juan Lara. He’s been more than just a source of inspiration—he’s been my constant support, my encouragement on the hard days, and the person who truly believed in this dream before it became reality. His love, patience, and faith in me gave me the confidence to take this leap. This business exists not just because of my hard work, but because of the unwavering support of someone I truly love and deeply appreciate.
