We had the good fortune of connecting with Max K and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Max, what role has risk played in your life or career?
The most successful people I know are risk takers. Growing up I was very reserved and would rarely take risks but as I began observing others who were growing fast, I noticed they all were not afraid of risk. You cannot succeed without failing first, When I finished my Masters in Biochemistry, I had a choice to make. Keep accruing debt, keep going through school and either become a phd researcher or MD doctor; OR I could pursue my passion of social media, modeling, and tv! I decided I would use what money I had saved and give the modeling/social media industry a try! Shortly after that I got picked up by a big reality tv show and that’s when things took off
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I pride myself on being very versatile. I have the physique and muscle mass for fitness modeling but I also have the facial features, height, and fashion look for runway/print/editorial modeling. I feel that versatility is my greatest strength which sets me apart. Additionally this allows me to fit into commercial and tv well.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
During the day we would go to DC and check out the museums and monuments if they were from out of town. My favorite museum would have to be Natural History. At night we would go to my favorite restaurants each night starting at lower price and going up each day. We would start with a place that I love to frequent called Sushi Rock in Arlington. The next spot we can do is Daikaya in Chinatown. It’s the best ramen/Izakaya spot in the city by far. We can then move on to Shoto which has the best Asian fusion entrees and very good sushi as well. Slightly above Shoto would be a spot in the DC Wharf called Naraya which is basically my favorite date restaurant in all of DC. Asian fusion, incredible sushi, great view of the harbor. The wharf is my favorite area of DC to walk around followed up by Georgetown Waterfront, We can also try Ocean Prime in DC which is another superb seafood and sushi spot I’ve gone on dates. Lastly, at the pinnacle of all Asian cuisine in DC would be Sushi Nakazawa. I’d only go there if my bank account was feeling it though haha. Simply put, this place is a contender for best sushi in the country, awarded multiple Michelin stars and even being featured in a documentary.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out my friend Daniel Ramirez who goes by @Nicewaffles on Instagram. He is the one who inspired me to really put effort into social media and he taught me all the basics to start. He also did my very first photoshoot to get my modeling portfolio started!
I would also love to shoutout my best friend Jack Ormond who is always there for me when things are hard. There have been times when I was failing, my confidence was low, and I felt lost. He was always there to talk me back to my senses and get me back on track mentally
