We had the good fortune of connecting with Meaghan Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meaghan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After the birth of my son in 2015, I suffered from a spine injury which left me bedridden for a month. My husband was traveling a lot at the time for work so my mom had to move in to take care of my son. I started to experience symptoms of depression, however, I didn’t know they were symptoms. My husband and I had heard of depression but we didn’t know much about it. I was what I call, a functional depressed person, when people came to visit my son, I was able to put on a smile, laugh and be my “normal” self but as soon as the doors closed I was a mess. There was a lot of guilt and shame because I didn’t feel connected to my son and knew I wasn’t really present for him. I ended up getting pregnant when my son was 11 months and thought to myself (in my delusion state) I get a do-over. This experience is going to be so much better than my first birthing experience. NOPE! When my son was 3 weeks old, my now 1 year old started have seizures. All my attention had to go to him and I had to hire someone to help with my newborn. That took me into an even darker state. From the crazy things I was saying to myself I knew I had to do something.
Lost and not knowing where to turn, I did what law school and studying for the TX and CA bar trained me to do very well, which was study. I became obsessed with learning about the mind and why I was thinking and feeling the way I was. I extensively researched and applied healing western and eastern technology styles into my life. From this information, I was able to heal myself from depression. I have made it my purpose and life’s work to teach others these methods. I do healing workshops, retreats and business conferences all over the world teaching others how they can heal themselves from depression, anxiety and past trauma.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love what I do because I teach something that all people are capable of doing. I honestly don’t think there is anything that sets me apart of others. I just learned a science and applied it in my life and chose teach it to others to empower them. I want the world to know that the body has self mechanisms that we are not taught about. The things that I teach should have been taught when we were in 2nd grade. This is the most important thing to learn: knowing how to create yourself to be the way you want so when life happens, you are not sidetracked and can sustain balance within. I am most excited about sharing this information to the world. There are so many people suffering in the mind and body and if I can bring some light in life, I am happy. I don’t have much to say about myself or my brand, I just want to spread the word on the mechanics of the mind. When you know how something works, you can make it the way you want.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am sorry I am not cool enough for this question. As a mother of three young boys and constantly focused on creating content, my idea of a great time is just with my friend catching up on his/her life and seeing what new adventures they have been up to.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Everyone in my life that I have encountered has played some type of role in my life. I try to learn from all people as I am the one that attracted that person in my life. In terms of my healing and spiritual journey, the person that had the most profound impact on me is the mystic Sadhguru. This is where I learned about the importance raising my vibrational energy and creating belief systems that align with my highest self. It was his teaching that not only helped me out of my depression and traumas, but how to create sustaining peace and joy within myself no matter what happens..
