We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Pintell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe the most important factor behind my success is taking something I always enjoyed doing as a hobby and turning it into my career. Growing up, I always enjoyed finding new places to visit and trying new places to eat. When traveling, I was most interested in finding the coolest places around the area that I was visiting. I would even spend hours researching places on Google maps for fun. I decided to start making videos about the places I would visit on TikTok and I realized how much I love food blogging. I saw the potential of content creation as a full time job. The creative process fits my personality as I’ve always been a creative person but I also love being able to help promote local businesses.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
To get to where I am now, it took a lot of patience and consistency. Patience to have faith that I would get to where I need to in my career and I had to consistently make the best content I can. It was difficult staying consistent when I wouldn’t see growth on my accounts right away but I knew I had to keep putting out content every day. I still have a long way to go but I’m glad that I kept going and I’m thankful for everyone that enjoys my content. Along the way I have learned that there will be challenges and mistakes made but the most important thing is to keep going. With a career like this, there’s no guaranteed path and that is one of the biggest challenges.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Picking a few places in Houston is tough because there are so many good places to eat and visit. A few of my favorite spots are Shabu Squared hot pot, Feng Cha boba drinks, Snowy Dessert Bar bingsu, Flower & Cream ice cream, Egg Haus brunch, and Local Foods for lunch. I love visiting the Waterwall park in Houston, historic Galveston, and walking around Buffalo Bayou Park. I have so many more places on my Instagram and TikTok.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without the support of my husband, Matthew, and my family, I wouldn’t have taken a chance and made a career out of content creating. It was definitely a risk at first and not a “typical” career path. I’m thankful to have the support because they encouraged me to continue content creating and now I can say that I made it my full time job.

Acquiring my bachelors degree from Marietta College in Ohio in Graphic Design with a minor in Advertising has also helped me prepare for a job involving content creating and marketing. One of the courses I took was Food Writing and I always thought it would be amazing to be able to try food and write about it for a career. You never know which one of your random favorite classes could become something more.
