We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Ivory and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monique, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Ten years ago hair extensions seem to have picked up in popularity. They have always been around. However, bundles were now flying off the shelf. People were shopping less at beauty supply store for hair extensions. We wanted to offer quality hair extensions at reasonable prices.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Exquisite Luxury Hair is different from other brands because we pride ourselves on offering quality hair at reasonable prices. We keep with the trends and offer the latest styles. Exquisite Luxury Hair has a platinum edition released this year that focuses on our 613 blonde products. From tape in extensions, bundles and wigs we carry it all. Our Platinum Edition can be custom colored to platinum blonde or easily transformed to any color your heart desires. Exquisite Luxury Hair also released its RAW collection this year. Our RAW bundles are full and thick from cuticle to ends. The Wig Collection has also added be looks to the line since dropping in 2021. Exquisite Luxury Hair offers hair consultations, custom coloring, and wig maintenance.

We are a small family owned & operated business A lot of our services are done in house. However, Exquisite Luxury Hair loves to partner and work with other stylists and businesses in the beauty industry. Making connections has kept us in good company over the years. It has not been easy. Especially starting from scratch and self funding. The market changes rapidly therefore we are constantly trying new products, vendors and techniques to provide the best for our customers. In business I’ve learned not to take things personal…it’s just business!

When we are not working on #teamExquisite business. We are working with nonprofit organization The Adam Caesar Foundation. It was founded by owner, DesMonique Ivory in memory of their loved one, her brother. The nonprofit is a registered 501(c)3. TACF creates community gardens and participate in community outreach initiatives. It is a way to give back to the communities in which they were raised.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Born and raised in the larger than life state of Texas, in the great city of Houston it’s hard to narrow down what to do. Because it’s always something to do. Houston is a melting pot of food and culture. You can spend a week visiting different restaurants, museums, farmer markets, and parks. There’s a wildlife park you can ride a trolley through and see different animals from all over the world. Houston’s Zoo is another site to see if you like animals and outdoors. If you’re a foodie there’s a different spot to eat each day of the week. Seafood, soul food, Mexican cuisine, Mediterranean cuisine, vegetarian and vegan eateries are in abundance as well. Houston and the surrounding areas has options for everyone. We enjoy going to the pier and fishing. Going on a party boat to deep sea fish is always fun. Theres tons of sporting events available to attend. We are home to the Houston Texans, Rockets and Astro’s just to name a few professional sports teams. You can spin the wheel and find something new and exciting to do here.
