We had the good fortune of connecting with Mrs. Terell Hickman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mrs. Terell, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My work life balance has changed immensely over the last 2-3 years. I was a full time law enforcement employee for about 10 years before deciding to move over to part time employment in banking. Taking a leap of faith, my support system, along with my drive to be successful I am able to prioritize my daily tasks in order to have a healthy work life balance. I have found that journaling & documents all notes in one place is extremely useful. I am a bit old fashioned, so I utilize the standard notepad and pen to keep my notes handy.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Currently, I am in the banking industry. I worked in banking right after college and then went into law enforcement for 10 years. So, within the last 2 years I have been banking part time and working my business the other portion of the time. I have always had customer service based employment so I believe that has played a role in maintaining relationships and a steady stream of business for myself. I have learned to stay aligned with the boundaries I have set to efficiently run my business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I believe the City of Houston is a beautiful place to both visit & live! A couple of my favorite spots to visit can definitely vary depending on mood .. For starters, I am a northsider that does not mind driving around to enjoy myself.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Whew! I have a couple of shout outs to give! First, there is my lovely wife, Yolanda, she is my favorite strawberry slicer and has never hesitated helping in any aspect whatsoever. My mom, she started the fruit business LOL! My mom was the first person that I watched make fruit trays for fun, she would make them effortlessly as well. My dad, he is the best! He places his order for fruit weekly, like clock work. His support is unmatched. Anyone that has ever supported Rell’s Real Fruit deserves all of the credit.
