Meet Myah LeMaster | owner of serene beans coffee shop

We had the good fortune of connecting with Myah LeMaster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi myah, what matters most to you?
Authenticity. Serene Beans would not have lasted 10 Years if we did not stay true to who we are and our mission here. Karen Howard started this coffee shop as an escape and a safe space for people in recovery ( whatever that means to you). When i bought in to the shop and started running it, everyone asked me what i was going to change, my answer is still the same as it was two years ago, Not a dang thing. besides updating events and some cosmetic decor and drink items, the soul of serene beans has stayed exactly the same. I am beyond proud to have my name attached to a place where so many people come to find peace and an amazing cup of coffee.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Serene Beans above all else is a safe place. We host recovery meetings here and on all major holidays host a event where we run meeting all night so everyone has a safe environment to be apart of. Every single person i hire are the most personable people on this planet, i got so incredibly lucky to have the team that i have. serene beans attracts the most amazing and creative people. Our coffee is to die for, i know i’m biased but i was once a regular and admirer of this place before i was an owner.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Me and my friends are old witches in a past life so i would be doing them a disservice if i didn’t take them to Serenity Seekers on 3rd street and get our tarot read and buy some new jewelry. I know its a little out of the way but anytime someone comes into town i take them to Galveston and get them to try a coffee truck that i am a huge fan of called groovy grinds, i’m a huge fan. Food wise i’m a simple person and love street tacos and my heart belongs to Tex Tacos, best taco truck around.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Husband. Blake LeMaster. When i started this journey i was a manager at a restaurant and i had the crazy idea to buy into a coffee shop and start running it full time and for the first year and a half of running it, not taking a paycheck, he supported me in every single way a person can support you. i will always be forever grateful that he let me chase my dream.
