We had the good fortune of connecting with ErisRenee Bernard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ErisRenee, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was to create a comfortable workspace and environment for myself. Initially, I didn’t want to work for anyone else.

As an entrepreneur I wanted the comfort of making my own schedule, enjoying time with a clear mind and to create memories with my children/grandchildren.

My vision is to build a foundation for my children/grandchildren to grasp and be confident and successful in their own ideas.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a hairstylist that specialize in natural hair care and an Independent Paparazzi Consultant.

I’ve done hair over the years off and on and began a new career in fashion jewelry in 2022.

Initially, I wanted to be my own Boss and create a work environment that was comfortable for me. I give my all in everything I do and not being appreciated in my previous careers I knew I had to review my plans as an entrepreneur.

My vision is to build a foundation for my children/grandchildren to continue or manage and build their own.

What sets Epic Stylez and Epic Jewelz apart from others is me! I believe in positive energy that I give when my clients walk through the door. When they sit in my chair to get their hair done I want them to experience a moment of positive vibes, relaxed moments of great conversation and to leave with some beautiful jewelry to compliment their look.

Being an entrepreneur is very challenging. It has it’s ups and downs. Don’t give up! During my most challenging moments in building my businesses, I had to trust the Most High God, as the way has already been paved for me. Surrounding myself with like minded people and walking in Faith.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way is to stay positive, create boundaries and when under pressure don’t quit, something great is about to happen.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s so many places to go and things to do in Houston. (lol) Houston is an ethnically diverse city that you’d definitely like to explore.

We would tour the city, first stop would be the Graffiti Park downtown. This is a really nice place to take pictures and capture the beauty of the art on the buildings. Some other places I would take them is to the Waterwall Park in Uptown Houston. After a few more pics we’s spend a little time at the Houston Arboretum. I’m an outdoor person and I love to embrace nature.

There’s soooo many restaurants to choose from. I’d give them the option to choose what they would like to eat. However, my favorite restaurants are The Breakfast Klub, Phil & Derek’s and the Greasy Spoon.

I’m a planner, so I would have a week long itinerary that would be memorable.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shout out my children for the love and support! Deidra, Derek, Christin, Elijah, Isa and my fiance’ Donnie.

To the Most High, I give all thanks and praises to! Without Him we are nothing!

Without my family I don’t know where my life would have been. They’ve always pushed me to be better! They’ve been along this journey with me of my entrepreneurship from beginning and I know they’ll be there to the end. It’s US against the world.
