We had the good fortune of connecting with Myia Landers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Myia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have been into eyelashes since my freshman year of high school, it was something that kind of stuck with me. I know I have always wanted to operate my own establishment so it was no doubt that I should start my own lash extension business. Lash extensions make you feel beautiful with or without makeup. When I sat and thought about what could I do everyday and not get tired of–nothing else came to mind other than offering lash extensions.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
To those who do not know, I am a full-time college student running a full time business. Some days it is challenging as I am near the end of my college experience while still trying to service clients. It gets overwhelming at times, but it is worth it. Seeing their reaction after every set makes me appreciate all of the hard work I put in. I wouldn’t trade my job for anything!
An important lesson I’ve learned being a young entrepreneur is to never give up. It isn’t going to be easy you will have good days and you will have bad days. Even when things seem as if they are not going the way you want, something great is going to come out if you put in the hard work always.
EyeAdore is all about loving yourself, loving your lashes and embracing your beauty!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m big on seafood so I would say anyone’s first stop when they get to Houston should definitely be Lotus! (I am getting hungry just thinking about it). There are so many things to do in Houston, you should never be bored. A cool place I recently went to was Andretti’s, I think they’re pretty cool if you’re into go-karts and virtual reality.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
EyeAdore would not be EyeAdore without the help of God and my family. My family is my #1 support system. I go to them with all of my ideas in order to gain feedback and they’re always so invested in my lash business. I pray on my business almost every day–I ask for ideas, support, an overflow of blessings on my lash business and God has truly shown out and he’s not done yet.
