We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Vongsengdeuane and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I decided to pursue an artistic/creative career because I didn’t feel like a traditional job suited me. I truly believe if you do pursue a career doing something you love it will never feel like work.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am very detail-oriented and knowledgeable, I believe this is what sets me apart from others in my field. I will do everything in my power to make sure my clients’ look and feel amazing!
In addition, I know that being knowledgeable is key. I am always up to date with new trends and education. Many individuals believe that you only need to study how to apply eyelash extensions. In reality, studying infections/diseases, harmful materials, proper disinfecting, and more will make you more accountable as a professional. Being able to keep my clients updated and aware of any issues that may occur is an essential part of my job!

I would not be where am I today professionally without IHeart Lash Academy (IG/@IHeartLashAcademy). I enrolled in a TDLR eyelash extension specialty program. I was taught how to create high quality work while prioritizing my client’s health. It was hard starting this new chapter in my life. I was very intimidated by my classmates because I was younger. I always feared that no one would take me seriously. I’m thankful I had great instructors and classmates who pushed me outside of my comfort zone.
Since I have graduated from the academy, I have obtained my eyelash extension specialty license and 7 certifications. I’m still eager to keep learning and growing!

My biggest takeaway from my business is that hard work pays off. Being able to take control of my life at such a young age is incredible.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a huge foodie. I would spend 90% of our time trying to get them to try all my favorite spots. Some of my all time favorites places are Urban Eats, Wanna Bao, House of Pies, and The Waffle Bus.

If we aren’t eating, I would take them to ride bikes at Buffalo Bayou in the evening!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m very fortunate to have a huge support system. Each and every one of my family members, friends, and clients deserve recognition for helping me while building my business. Small acts such as liking one of my posts, referring me to new clients, or simply just checking on me really make me feel supported!

I want to dedicate my shoutout to my parents. They have always encouraged me to pursue my interests. When I decided to attend cosmetology school, they helped put me through it. Even now, they are a huge help. When I’m feeling stressed I know I can count on them to lift me up.
