We had the good fortune of connecting with Natoya Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natoya, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My end goal is to have a community center in the 5th Ward/Hardy Area that provides education, skill sets and trades, financial literacy, sports, enrichment programs, and internships. I also want to form a Non-Profit that’s geared towards uplifting and assisting pregnant teens, teen moms, and young moms. I just feel like the world was against me and counted me out when I had a baby. I felt like giving up more than once just because of what people had to say. I don’t ever want anyone to have to feel like that. I want to show young moms that they can work/go to school, raise their baby, have fun, and succeed.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
NRJ Multiservices, where you go to one place for multiple services. We provide you with prompt, professional service where and when you need it. Although we do have an office location we are mobile for multiple services. I am most proud of the fact that I really got it out the mud! I did this for me and my kids and I did it alone. I did it with a vision and the power of manifesting. No it was not easy. Obstacles are still in the way. The struggles just make the success sweeter. I’ve learned that everyone is rooting for you until they look at you like the competition. I’ve also learned that just because they expect it to be a race you can show them its about collaboration with you. I want the world to know that I’m just a girl from a small neighborhood trying to do GIGANTIC things for my family, my friends, my community, and my city!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m just a girl who loves shopping (The Galleria/Memorial City/Willowbrook), karaoke, and Mexican Food. Some of my top Mexican Food Restaurants are: Pappasitos (The Queso is to die for), Escalante’s, and Cyclone Anaya’s they all provide great vibes as well. My friends and I mostly hang out at lounges and bars. We tore the clubs down years ago. Houston is definitely an entire vibe though. I love everything about my city! The scenery is beautiful if you have time for a little exercise take a bike ride through downtown. Its relaxing to say the least. Do it at night though because Houston traffic is a beast!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My entire village deserves a shoutout because I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for them. I would be somewhere writing lesson plans getting ready to do the same thing I had been doing since I was 19. If I didn’t have the support, the love, the motivation, and belief in me I would be going to that school on Monday. My family and friends pushed me here and I’m grateful. They were the first people to utilize all of my services. They send me referrals. They saw things in me that I knew were there, but comfort kept me in that classroom. Once I realized for myself that comfort didn’t equal growth, I knew I had to take a leap of faith and bet on myself. Of my village I must give most credit to my mom that lady is my rock. My balance, my biggest cheerleader, my personal assistant (my brother hates that title, lol), my vending machine administrator and several other things. I appreciate everyone in my life who pushed and encouraged me to bet on myself. A lot of my friends are very successful entrepreneurs. Iron sharpens iron.
