We had the good fortune of connecting with NaTroya Harper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi NaTroya, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was wanting to be able to spend all the time I wanted with my family plus do something that I love. My husband was definitely my biggest supporter with starting my own business. I remember the first time he told me to just focus on the business and he would handle everything else. Right then and there I knew what I wanted to do and that was to make women feel beautiful in the clothes and hair extensions that I was going to offer to them. That is where Troya Denise and Candy Tresses was born.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Troya Denise is the online place to shop to trendy, in style women’s clothing. I took my love and passion for fashion and created looks that many love! If you need good, long lasting hair extensions definitely check out Candy Tresses. I offer many different textures of hair so there is something for everyone!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For brunch I would take them to Max’s Wine Dine for sure. They have the best Crème Brûlée french toast. In this Texas heat who doesn’t want something cold. I love Bahama Bucks so it would be a must that we go there to grab a snow cone. I’m a huge shopper so of course I would take them to the Galleria. For dinner Pappadeaux is my favorite go to.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband Don deserves just as much credit as I do. He was always up late at night with me working on the businesses. He constantly kept me encouraged and uplifted even when things were not going my way which led to me wanting to just quit. My husband has really been my rock and backbone during this whole journey. I seriously can’t thank him enough for it. I also have to give a major shout out to GOD for making away for us to run the businesses full time.
