We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking has played a major role in my life as well as my career. I’m a workaholic so as far as life I take risk but working non stop and only sleeping when I blink, Placing myself last and putting my family first, I don’t spend a lot of time on myself because time is borrowed, we don’t know the expiration date, so I use time to the fullest. As far as my career I will risk going above and beyond the call of duty to reach out to those that are in higher positions them myself to network, I’m not afraid of the word no. “No “ motivates me to move on to the next person/ company with a stronger approach.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career journey has always been in the Criminal justice field, I’ve been working for Texas Department Of Criminal Justice since 2001. I had always wanted to be a police officer but due to my father being killed in the line of duty my mother didn’t want me to be a police officer. Yes it was hard not to follow my dream but I love mother and respected her feelings and concern for me. I started Bad & Boujee Entertainment 2 years ago Planning events and showcases because my sons, brothers and Godson were all artists. After starting my Entertainment company I started 2 fragrance lines Bad & Boujee for women and Loyalty for men by way of L7 fragrances in Colorado. My journey then moved to A&R for Eric B Music Group helping independent artists streaming music through the Orchard Sony Records Platform. Once I started working with EBMG I started my Record Label Bad & Boujee Records LLC. It’s been a challenge at times but that’s why my company is called Bad & Boujee I am tough at work in the correctional field but off the clock I’m a Lady .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I like to bowl at Lucky Stripes , I love Shopping at the Galleria, I love to eat seafood so any seafood place works for me, I love the movie Bar & Grill and sometimes just hanging around the house watching chick flicks and looking at videos pretending to be Beyonce lol we have all of her moves down to a “B” lol .

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have quite a few starting with my Godson Houston Legend Lil Flip, My Sons King Shermo and Hello KHOPPA , Meke SelfMade Boss ,Sabrina the Model , Jones The General, TTubbs, Artavia Allison, Antrenique Allison , EJ Carter and What’s Happening Now New York Magazine. They have all been my inspiration and encouragement.
