We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Waltman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I’ve been blessed with several talents in my life, which is why I decided to obtain a theatre degree, mass communications degree, and esthetician’s license. Oddly enough, the core decision behind pursuing all of these endeavors is the same: to help people. Theatre helps people feel and question and think. Communications helps people unlock the truth and allows their voices to be heard. Esthetics helps people discover their innermost confidence. THAT is why I decided to pursue my beauty spa full time. It started as a makeup business and has developed into my baby, the Glow by Coley spa. There’s something magical about the sparkle in someone’s eye when they see the assets we’ve been able to enhance together. Whether it be through a makeup look on a memorable day that made them feel like the most important person in the room, or a facial that allows them to see their bare skin in a different light than ever before, or a fresh brow wax that lifts and frames the face in a way a client never expected…they leave my spa feeling comforted, empowered, and bright. In fact, my logo utilizes a bee as our company symbol. The reason behind the bee is because it means “community, brightness, and personal power.” If I can achieve at least those three things with my business, I will consider it a success. I’ve always known that my confidence and worth comes from my Heavenly Father and is brought out by the incredible people He has placed in my life. It’s now my mission to instill this in others by bringing honesty, knowledge, and integrity to the table when working with my clients. In turn, we yield not only beautiful results, but beautiful relationships as well.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business was very unexpected, but has been one giant blessing after the other. I have been into the beauty industry since I was about three years old and some brave soul in my family purchased a sparkly ice blue lipstick for me. Ha! I wore it consistently and I remember feeling so incredibly beautiful every time I put it on. I didn’t feel beautiful because I felt ugly without it, I felt beautiful because I felt special and unique. I felt like I would be the only girl in the room with that color of lipstick! And trust me…I was the only one! That’s how I want every one of my clients to feel. I don’t want them to feel like just another number in my spa room, I want them to feel heard and accepted. It hasn’t been easy starting my own business as a young entrepreneur, but my clients make all the struggle worth it. I’m most proud of the fact that no matter what happens, I remain honest with my clients which is what makes them want to tell their friends about me and come back for another service. That is more important to me than money or numbers ever will be. My brand/business is personal and fun, and I treat it with utmost care and caution. I want people to remember it that way after they visit!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best pal visited the Houston area, our itinerary would look like this:

Sunday – Brunch at Snooze, an A.M. Eatery and a trip to the Houston Zoo
Monday – Lunch at Kat’z Deli and Bar and a trip to the Holocaust Museum
Tuesday – A picnic and walk around Hermann Park and dinner at Ninfa’s
Wednesday – An entire pool day full of cocktails at Margaritaville
Thursday – Shopping until we drop at The Galleria
Friday – Houston Rodeo!!!
Saturday – Day trip to Galveston and an evening show in the Houston Theatre District

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friends and family were NOTHING but encouraging the minute I said I wanted to pursue my very own small business. They are the the backbone of my work ethic and drive. I wouldn’t have a clue where to start if it wasn’t for their expertise in being business owners and unwavering support. Specifically my parents, my Aunt Angie, and my best friend Caitlin pushed me to do what I knew I was being called to do. They never once doubted my abilities and for that I’m forever grateful. They deserve so much credit!
