We had the good fortune of connecting with Niome Hulett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Niome, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my brand is authenticity. My goal is to be unique amongst the hat bars in my area.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart from others is me! My product, my set up, and even my brand colors and patterns can be replicated to a degree, but no one can be me. I think customers connect with authenticity and they can see my true excitement for what I do. If you are chasing someone else’s dream and vision it will show. Having a business isn’t always easy, it isn’t like a corporate job. I don’t get to “clock” in and out, it means I’m working on new ideas all the time…I’m taking notes… I’m sourcing products and posting instagram reels in the car on the way to dinner. Although, it’s a commitment of time I wouldn’t change it. I love what I do. One lesson I’ve learned specifically to my Hat Bar is if you put it on social media..it will be copied. That may seem like a gesture of flattery, but not when your’e trying to stand out in the same city and in the same communities. I’ve been forced to change things due to an individual making her set up obviously similar. This was frustrating at first, but as one of my fellow vendors put it….she has pushed me to be more creative, elevate my displays, refine my designs, and be more intentional about what makes someone choose me. I love to talk to customers, I love designing my vendor booth, and I love helping make one of a kind products!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Houston offers so many entertainment options. If I had a friend visiting for a week I’d take them to a local market. Nearly every weekend there is a market to attend. Often times over 100 vendors are set up bringing the community together to celebrate, shop, eat, and spend time with some of your favorite people. While your’e out grab a bite to eat at a small burger stand named Boo’s Burger. Its a traditional burger place that offers a vegan option as well…their small menu has allowed them to perfect the burger! Depending on the day there is always a game, comedy show, or musical to attend. Whatever your’e in the mood for…you can find something to do here in Houston.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize my family in their support, love, and encouragement in my business. They believe in my vision and give me the confidence I sometimes fall short of. The early mornings and late nights are never met with anything other than a positive attitude.
