We had the good fortune of connecting with Noemi Andrade Cordova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Noemi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Not just one thought, but many thoughts! My process actually started off slow. Last year in May 2021 I decided to make all of the mommy’s in my family a “Hand-made” gift which was a small flower bouquet and chocolate dipped sweets. They loved them and it just left a warm feeling in my chest. At the time I didn’t think anything of it, but as the year went on when my family had birthdays my mom and I would make dessert tables as a helping hand. Then came my birthday July and my mom and I went all out in making sweets we were craving! I told my mom she should do this as a side hobby/job. Then she suggested I did it, but I had recently gotten in an accident so I told her maybe later. So I guess then the thought of doing that with her lingered on. Come January 2022 my aunt had a big birthday party for my cousin and as we were on the phone I actually offered to help her make some sweets if she’d like and she said yes that she would buy everything and she would pay me for my work. I accepted and later at the party when people started to eat the sweets, they started to ask me if I made the treats and I said yes! As people gave me compliments that warm feeling I had on my birthday and Mother’s Day of last year grew! Grew so much that for 2 weeks I was contemplating wether to make something more out of a hobby I did with my mom. Then my mom gave me that push with words of encouragement that led me to make my logo and my business Instagram.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I specialize in baking and chocolate dipped treats. What sets my business apart is that I like to take my time with my orders. I like to think that each order is not only for eating but as a gift for yourself or for a special somebody. You know you wouldn’t want to treat yourself and then being disappointed or gift somebody something and you don’t like how it looks. I wouldn’t send out a treat that i wouldn’t buy myself. What I’m most proud of right now is my best seller which is my churro cheesecake! Im excited to see where this will lead me and all the skills I’ll learn along the way. The journey was not easy to begin with. I had people bring me down, stop talking to me and not support me. Even though i have strived, I won’t deny that I haven’t had some doubts when it came to building my business, but there’s something about making something for somebody and they say they love it that makes me really happy and keeps me going. I learned that when it comes to this business there’s a lot of experimenting and sometimes it’s a success and sometimes it’s not. I have learned and keep learning from my mistakes and honest reviews. I wouldn’t be here without my team and my customers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Houston and even though I grew up here, I find myself still going to new places. I love the diversity Houston has to offer and it definitely does not hold back when it comes to food. These are just a few of my favorite places to go eat at.

Egghaus
Cielito café
Hungry farmers
Waffle bus
Cocos crepes
Xochi
RA sushi
Chama Gaucha

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can actually tell you who and why deserves credit. My mom of course for pushing me to be my best self, always being my personal trainer and mentor. My aunt Judith, for giving me the opportunity to make treats for her party that made me want to just jump in and pursue this. It might not seem like much but she gave me her kitchen aid mixer after I told her I made my cookie dough with my hands and she told me there was no need for that when I have her. Also, for my closest friends for always sharing everything I’ve posted, telling me they can’t wait to see what I’m working on and for giving me small words of affirmation. It’s all sweet until I make something new and then i find myself with 7 food critics! They might think it’s a win win situation but I always get nervous making something new. It’s okay though because I do appreciate honest reviews so I can improve. So thank you guys for always sticking by me and I love you all berry much!
