Hi Nyla, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After I graduated from Grambling State University in November 2020, I spent countless hours of research on how to start a business and I found myself noticing more pros than cons. I started brainstorming and thought, ¨What is something that I enjoy doing and how can I create a lucrative business out of it?¨ Then, I realized, I have been a notary loan signing agent since April 2020 and I have been gaining great success from just being a notary for friends and former colleagues. I knew that if I created a business out of this ¨newfound hobby¨ I would have the flexibility to create my own schedule, gain more clientele, network with others in this field, and keep a steady source of income. Thus, this is how ´Notarize With Nyla LLC´ came into fruition.

What should our readers know about your business?
Notarize With Nyla LLC sets me apart from others because my business is very original. While being a notary is very well-known, creating a business from it is where the originality comes in. I created my business at 22-years old and this is not a profession that most people my age are looking to gain income from. I am now a 23-year-old woman who just received a bachelor’s degree and is now working on a master’s degree. Getting to where I am business-wise has not been an easy road. It is still not easy to this very day. There are days where I do not get any clients and days where I have too many clients. I overcome these challenges by keeping a planner to prioritize everything regarding my business. Since I launched my business in January 2021, the biggest lesson that I have learned is direct marketing and networking will help your business skyrocket. This lesson can essentially be used for ALL business owners. Being able to brand yourself and network with those in your field will help your name reach places you have not been to yet. Moreover, I want the world to know that I did this by myself and with God. Creating a business is possible with hard work and dedication. Do what you love so you can love what you do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My hometown, Houston, Texas is such a great place to visit and stay. If I had friends coming to Houston for one of the best weekends ever, we would first have to go to my favorite brunch spot, ´Snooze´. Their shrimp and grits are to die for. Afterward, fun attractions would include doing an escape room, exploring the museum district, going thrift shopping, or simply getting some nitrogen ice cream from Sub Zero Ice Cream Shop. For the best food and drinks, Turkey Leg Hut is a Houston favorite. Good food, good music, and great people. Houston is filled with so many hidden gems that would make anyone’s experience here a very memorable one.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Since I am a very spiritual and religious person, I owe all of the credit and recognition to God. I spent so much time writing in my prayer journal and ensuring that my mental health was intact before becoming a business owner. In addition to that, there is one scripture from the Bible that I adore. Which is, ¨Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed (Proverbs 16:3). Meaning, if I continue to praise God the way I do, the plans I have (not only just in my business) will triumph under his will.
