We had the good fortune of connecting with NyOsha “Suga” Randle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi NyOsha “Suga”, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued a career that I could be creative in because I love to be artistic in everything I do. Whether it’s makeup, drawing, and even writing.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
WARPAINTBYSUGA is a brand name and idea I thought of sitting down at my 9 to 5 call center job being bored as ever. I kept thinking to myself, “ This job is cool but there has to be something more than this…job” I know I love art. I love makeup. Let’s do both. So I began brainstorming… Creating a brand has not been easy especially when there is absolutely no funding. One thing I’ve learned on this journey, everybody wants to clap for you, but nobody wants to help you get to where you need to be. Networking is key. And not giving up on yourself will get you farther than you think.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d definitely go to Wonder. Bar downtown. Go see the art wall off of hwy59.
Eat at either Travelers Table or check out the Galleria Food Truck stop
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The one person that deserves all the credit is my daughter. She gave me the drive to figure something out in life that could possibly set myself and her up for life if done right. To be honest… before her I was just waking up living and going back to sleep. But she gave me that drive at work that day after staring at her pictures. Eleven years later she is my biggest cheerleader, she stays on my case about remaining visible on social media so people can notice me, she helps me pack my tools to work, she does alot so I have to give her the credit. I also have to give credit to any and everybody who helped me when I was down and they didn’t even know it. (Mutt & Sheka)
