We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige Acuna and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paige, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process about starting a business was really just the desire of becoming my own boss! I liked the idea of being in charge of my day to day work life so I could try to be more flexible for my family. It’s literally been the best decision I’ve ever made for my career!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being a hairstylist is the best job ever in my opinion! When you turn your guest back around towards the mirror and show them the finished product and they just have a huge grin.. that’s the best feeling ever! You literally just made someone feel more confident or beautiful than when they first walked through your door! I can’t imagine doing anything else.

I think the hardest thing for me was Covid. It was a hard time for everyone unfortunately. I had just relocated to the Houston area a few months before covid started. Shortly after moving to the area I became pregnant and was laid off during that insane period of time and then BOOM, hairstylists couldn’t even work. I waited to return back behind the chair until my baby was a couple of month old and started rebuilding my career again. THAT was the most frustrating period of my career but I love what I do so much that I didn’t let it stop me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh, for sure downtown Houston! That’s one of my favorite places to be! Any brewery or bar that has a good environment you can definitely find me there. Im also a sucker for Kemah, there’s a ton of cool little places to hangout there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d say my husband definitely deserves some credit!! He’s literally been with me from scratch and has listened and supported every crazy idea I’ve had and truly believes in me. That’s a pretty good feeling!
