We had the good fortune of connecting with Racheal Davenport and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Racheal, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is “Every woman’s success should be an inspiration to another. We’re strongest when we cheer each other on.” This quote means a lot to me when I see other women prospering in their business endeavors. I like the quote because it makes me feel strong and empowered when I see other strong women doing well, it motivates me to keep pushing.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an Administrative Assistant for a Deputy Chief at the City of Houston Fire Department. I have been with the city for about 12 years and I enjoy what I do. I believe being myself really sets me apart from others, I’m the one who will say what it is and not what you want to hear. I’m most proud of my website and the fact that I was able to create it and get started all by myself. It’s not complete, but it’s mines and I did it. I believe I am where I am today because I believe in finishing what I started. I always tell my daughter that can’t never could. If you don’t try, you’ll never know what the outcome will be. This process was not easy, and there are still some challenges, but I just take one day at a time. If I feel like I am getting overwhelmed, I just pause for a brief moment to gather my thoughts and get right back to it. I’ve learned that if you want something bad enough and you are determined to make it happen, can’t no one stop you, but you. So keep going! I started Racheal’s Online Boutique on August 23, 2020 on my late grandson’s birthday (Ma’Kylin). I am approaching my one year anniversary and it is such a great feeling. It is my goal to become the next big business who’s name rings out all over the world. I want to eventually start my own clothing line and continue to grow the business.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my family from Louisiana visits Houston, my husband and I like to take them to places they haven’t experienced. One place in particular that they have been wanting to visit is the Turkey Leg Hut. We usually go to the Breakfast Klub. I believe the next visit we’ll probably take them to Kemah Boardwalk and just enjoy the water. Maybe a boat cruise, back to Houston for a Bike Tour. The most happiest times are when we hang out at my house barbequing and just enjoying each other’s company. I think Galveston’s Pleasure Pier is interesting for someone who has never been and the Aquarium.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my husband Nigel Davenport for always being so supportive in all my big ideas. Thank you to my daughter Denisha Walpool who stands in and models clothing for me, my mom, Paulette Jones for always supporting through purchases or just liking and sharing my posts on social media. Most importantly, I could not make this happen without those who continue to support my business through purchasing merchandise. I have a really great customer base, especially my cousins Amos, Shelia & Shekeirea. Those who continue to shop week after week and month after month, you all are the real MVPs, thank you so much for your continued support. Last but definitely not least, I would like to thank my Graphic Designer, Christopher Fitzgerald with Visual Vocabulary LLC for seeing my vision of what I wanted in my logo.
